My friend and I played a lot of games together back in the OG Xbox years. I thought about the top 50 games we played the most. It's made up of 17 FPS's, 9 Co-op, 9 Collections, 4 Racing, 4 3PS's, 4 Action-Adventure, 1 Flight, 1 Sports, and 1 RPG. Here's the list in roughly chronological order:

Halo: Combat Evolved
Gauntlet: Dark Legacy
Burnout
Hunter: The Reckoning
Namco Museum
Medal of Honor: Frontline
Serious Sam
Burnout 2: Point of Impact
Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Tides of War
Evil Dead: Fistful of Boomstick
Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes
Crimson Skies
Hunter The Reckoning Redeemer
Links 2004
Midway Arcade Treasures
Armed and Dangerous
Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance
Intellivision Lives!
Dead Man's Hand
Red Dead Revolver
Psi-Ops The Mindgate Conspiracy
Burnout 3: Takedown
Fable
Midway Arcade Treasures 2
Halo 2
Atari Anthology
Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction
Project Snowblind
Timesplitters: Future Perfect
Area 51
Pariah
Destroy All Humans!
Sid Meier's Pirates
FlatOut
Darkwatch
Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks
Midway Arcade Treasures 3
Capcom Classics Collection Vol. 1
Far Cry Instincts
Total Overdose: A Gunslinger's Tale in Mexico
Serious Sam II
Taito Legends
Call of Duty 2: Big Red One
Gauntlet Seven Sorrows
Black
Urban Chaos Riot Response
Painkiller Hell Wars
Destroy All Humans 2
Marvel Ultimate Alliance
Capcom Classics Collection 2

This is by no means all the OG Xbox games I played, just the most played. There must be another 50 games I played just once or never completed like Morrowind, Beyond Good & Evil, KOTOR, Psychonauts, and Jade Empire.

I miss Burnout.

Me too! So much. 1-3 and Revenge. I still can't get into Paradise. Some of the original devs did those Dangerous series of games recently. There are three of them but I'm not too interested. Then there was that one Need For Speed done by Criterion, Pursuit, that I've always meant to get to. But that's about it. We need a true crashtastic racer, full-blown Burnout pronto.

Kind of surprised the Burnout series died after Paradise, which was in the beginning of 7th gen. I thought it was pretty successful and it was definitely a blast.

I can see the Burnout core fanbase not loving an open world design, since the series is such an arcade/level-focused experience.

Yeah, exactly. My friend was not thrilled by it. I tried it several times and couldn't quite stick to it. The Burnout feel is totally there but starting races at random intersections was a little strange. I also found it difficult to navigate the map in races. I think with more time though, I could get to like it.

Them taking over Need For Speed seemed to spell the end for Burnout. At least that's how I felt about it when they started doing Need for Speed.

Lot of really good classic arcade collections on that list!  You could make whole blogs out of those!

I'm probably one of the only people who did not like Beyond Good and Evil.  I did not like how they handled stealth gameplay.

I will. I'm missing two on OG Xbox, Capcom Classics Collection Vol. 1 which I used to have and may still have on PS2, and one I never knew about before Tecmo Classic Arcade.

I actually have that Tecmo collection.

I never knew about it and I always hunt down the collections. Somehow I missed that one. I hope it's not rare or expensive now.

There are a lot of arcade collections on Xbox. I wish they'd make Midway collections for modern systems, and I wouldn't mind a Taito collection. But I do like that Arcade Archives brought most of Nintendo's arcade catalogue as well as a lot of other Japanese games to modern systems, as well as SNK Arcade Classics and Capcom Arcade Stadium.

The Xbox was the only 6th gen system I skipped, I had both PS2 and Gamecube. The only Xbox exclusive that really interested me were Ninja Gaiden and Ninja Gaiden Black.

I've got a lot of arcade stuff on Xbox One right now, but not Taito or Midway. Those would be nice. Also those Psikyo games. Not on Xbox One yet.

I got a Gamecube just for Rogue Squadron 2. I forget what I got a PS2 for. I eventually played a lot of DQVIII, God Hand, and Okami but I got it for something else. I'll have to think about that one. I want to do a best of PS2 next after OG Xbox.

I liked the original Xbox. It was a gift at Xmas, and a surprise, I didn't want it at first. But it really impressed me. Had a lot of fun with that system.

It's a big bulky cinder-block of a system. The PS2 and GameCube are so much more portable.
