Humpty Dumpty Day

This was my Sunday gaming.

Pinball FX 3: I am keen to play the Williams collection of pinball tables and so I played through the 6 or so I already had until I got an achievement. The game is set up so you can read the table rules very easily, which is great because just shooting at lit things doesn't always help you score. Next time I'll probably buy some more Williams tables. I love the recreations of real tables because there's some history behind them. Plus, one day I may play the real tables.

Lost Artifacts: Soul Stone: I finished the story of the game and all 49 levels before I got an achievement. I did really well with this game and have most of the levels done with 3 stars already. Next time I'll try and get everything to 3 stars.

Zaccaria Pinball: This is a collection of simulations of real tables from a pinball maker somewhere around or just east of Europe. They are good tables, 42 of them. Plus, there are three interesting modes as well as a list of challenges for each table. Two of the modes have you progress from table to table trying to achieve certain objectives. In one of them you earn points that allow you to purchase table upgrades. The third mode is DLC and I bought it. It's a zombie attack mode on a specially designed digital table. You shoot at zombies that progress down the table towards you. It's fun. I love special modes for pinball table collections. It allows me to play multiple tables and learn some targeting skills. Unfortunately here, all the achievements are tied to challenges which I found pretty difficult. I'm going to keep at it though.

Omno: This was a new addition to Game Pass I thought I'd try. It's one of those fantasy adventure games that tells you almost nothing. The only thing that happens is a symbol lights up at the top of the screen when there is something you can interact with. This symbol I figured out pretty quickly was the ABXY diamond. So it tells you which button to push at certain times. This way you learn the controls without text. It's a pretty game but I got predictably stuck on an area and couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do next. There's no help you can ask for, so I wasn't going to run around in circles gathering more "mana" from weird local fauna anymore.

Peggle 2: I started with the idea of playing every level to complete any challenges I'd missed but decided to just go for the next achievement instead to save time. I completed a character's skill challenges, got my achievement, and moved on.

Stern Pinball Arcade: I played the Ripley's Believe it or Not table again and read some more of the table rules. I started scoring higher and I eventually got 18 million and third place on the high score list, and an achievement. My work was done for the day for this game.

Gems of War: I had forgotten this was by the devs who made Puzzle Quest and so I got excited for it again. Boy is this free-to-play game full of content. I could barely figure out what I was doing: campaign, daily challenge or kingdom building. I just poked around battling different foes and getting a handle on how the cards work again and how to create a deck. I also unlocked a ton of chests I'd had from the last time I played maybe several years ago. I got my achievement from this part. The game is very fun. I'm going to keep playing it (avoiding the microtransactions) and hopefully I can get my friend into it too so we can go head-to-head or join the same clan (or whatever that's called).

Darkest Dungeon: I started playing this on my PS4 as well during the week. For some reason, when I'm home, I tend to read the directions more carefully. I figured out how to disarm traps which I had somehow missed on my Xbox version. I tend to play more recklessly at my friend's place I think. Anyway, on my Xbox I didn't have much time but I got another apprentice-level dungeon completed without dying. I've been using buffs a lot whenever I surprise an enemy. It seems to help a lot. I also use things like blight (poison) and bleed a lot too. I buff (if enemy surprised), then bleed/poison, then go full out damage. That's my basic strategy.

I've never heard of Zaccaria Pinball.  I wonder if I've seen any of their tables?

Do you have the Williams Pack Volume 5 on Pinball FX3?  That one has my number one favorite pinball table in real life: Cirqus Voltaire.

I've never seen them before. They look a little simpler than Williams or Gottlieb tables but still pretty solid.

That's the WIlliams pack I have so far I think because I've been playing Cirqus Voltaire a lot.

I've never gotten into virtual pinball games, but I have a deep respect for them.

I've been considering playing Darkest Dungeon on occasion lately. I've never made a lot of progress in it either, but ther'e just something about it that captivates me.

It's a good way to learn what to do on a table, if you get to play the real one one day.

I love the opening to Darkest Dungeon. I've watched it several times. I love how the characters make comments during the game too. They help you know how to heal them of their mental wounds.
