Let's see what recent games I played on Xbox One from the Xbox phone app, cause gosh knows, I can't remember.
As yes, the three volumes of Atari Flashbacks collection. I tried to play only those games put out in the 70s because that's my theme for September. My favorites being: Breakout, Super Breakout, Bowling, Asteroids, and Lunar Lander (which I didn't play for some reason, maybe wasn't on these collections).
Next was Solitaire TriPeaks Flowers. I got this looking through the new games list on Xbox One. It was cheap and fit the bill for a turn-based game I was looking for to relate to my favorite board game, Squad Leader, which arose in '77. This solitaire game is kinda good. They present you with variations on the game like different patterns of card layouts and scrolling car layouts. You can get special effects cards by spending points you earn by completing screens. These give you wild cards or change the playfield in your favor. I like it, and for only $4, if I remember rightly, it was money well spent (especially since it was money earned from doing rewards quests and not real money).
Along the lines of my interest in Breakout and Superbreakout, I saw this game Brick Breaker Shoot in the Xbox store and bought it for cheap. It's an ID@Xbox game and so no achievements (rats!) but it's pretty good. You break them bricks just like original Breakout but some of the bricks release bonuses that rain down on you. Pick them up and suddenly your ball is a fireball and your knocking everything down in crazy action style. Fun stuff. I can't get past this one level though. Will keep working on it in the future.
Returned to Forza Horizon 4 to get some rewards points. I though FH5 was out soon but it's not until November. Anyway, happy to return to this for a while. 5000 renown points was done pretty easily just by doing a few daily challenges and whatnot. I love this game.
Samurai Showdown II was a Games with Gold freebee recently. I played it for a few rounds. I picked the weirdest character I could find and got my butt kicked in several bouts. Ah well, not a big fighting game fan anyway.
Mulaka is an adventure game in cell shaded style. Or hand drawn animation style, I'm not sure. It's looks cartoony a bit. I probably played it for rewards points but kept going because it was interesting. Exploration and fighting strange creatures is it's main draw. Third-person view. I don't know, I stopped for some reason. Probably to play Minecraft with my friend.
Minecraft: Yes, more Minecraft. So many stories happened that I now forget. Like dreams in virtual space, they fade fairly quickly. I picked up a book about redstone at a Goodwill and tried to get into the various machines you can build. I found them more cosmetic than useful so I haven't used them yet. I did learn you can create a switch on a railroad, which is game changing for me. I wasn't sure you could do that. I am, very on the edge of burnout on the game though. I may play more with my friend and ride horses all over the place, or I may not. It really depends on my friend and whether he's still in there building giant warehouses and digging massive mine chambers. We'll see.
Civ VI: Along the lines of finding a turn-based strategy game like to Squad Leader to play. Oh yeah, this is fine. I created a civ and advanced against AI players. I'm not fighting much, just exploring and expanding. I'm wondering when I'll get attacked but I'm trying to trade and create new cities without incurring the wrath of neighbors other than barbarians. Barbarains are to be crushed, clearly.
Well, that's recent play by me. What up? What you playin'?
