BaD: Shortest Games #10

I've played several games in this Queen's Quest series, but I played Queen's Quest 5: Symphony of Death most recently because it was free-to-play on Xbox One.

Howlongtobeat.com says this can be beat in 3 hours and maybe so. I'm sure I took longer 'cause: (caveman voice) me be dumb at puzzle game. But I did beat just about every puzzle in this game. There was one I just gave up on because it was taking me too long to solve it. Luckily the game lets you skip some puzzles so you can see more of the story. It cost me an achievement though. I considered replaying the whole game just to nail that one puzzle but, even though I like the game a lot, puzzles do tire out my crumbling brain.

So this is a first-person, turn-based adventure where you find hidden objects to solve puzzles galore and complete the story. It's a murder mystery you have to solve. There are so many different kinds of puzzles in this game. I think I liked making potions the best though.

This game is free-to-play but I never ran out of hints and had to buy any to keep going. Either I'm getting good at puzzle games or they made this a little too easy. The latter is probably the case, so I don't know how their going to make money.

Brave Giant is the developer based in Serbia. Queen's Quest 5 is their latest in the series, released in 2019. They do many other titles for all devices with a similar lush art style and hidden-object puzzle gameplay. They are published on Xbox by Artifex Mundi, a name I see often when looking through the Xbox store. They seem to publish mostly casual games, something I usually look to as a break from the more actiony games on my list (and to get quick achievements - snickering Smedley style).

Anyway, this was a fun title. I beat the game and played the bonus mission afterwards, and darn quickly too.

Sounds like one of those hidden object games.  Those are a dime a dozen on mobile devices.  You'd think I'd like those games more, since I loved the Hidden Pictures page in Highlights magazine when I was a kid.  But I don't have patience for those types of games anymore.

The good thing here, is you can substitute a hidden object section with another type of puzzle if you want. I forget which, I stayed with it until I found everything. Sometimes those objects are really unfairly hidden.
