Well dang. I totally forgot that the first Saturday in May is Free Comic Book Day. I always try to swing by somewhere and get the freebies. Looks like some cool stuff this year. But I must say, I always prefer trades over single issues because I can put them on a bookshelf and still tell what they are. So the previous Bloodborne comics were good? I've always been curious about those.
Free Comic Book Day: Bloodborne, Witcher, Hulk

It was last weekend (May 7th) in my area, and I picked up a half dozen or so previews for new or recently released comics. Most of these inside contained excerpts from full comics to come. It got me looking forward to a few.
Bloodborne: Lady of Lanterns
Much to my surprise, there have been four different Bloodborne comic series before this published by Titan. I wasn't all that impressed with the graphics of this Lady of Lanterns series excerpt (except for that cover), but I am a huge fan of the setting, visuals and story of the game, so I think I'll check out this fifth series when it arrives in July. I might even pick up the trades for the previous series, but I kind of like single issues over trades. I think the covers just look much better on a single issues instead of bundled inside a trade paperback.
Witcher: Grain of Truth
I neglected to get this free preview because I didn't realize that some of these free comics contained multiple stories. It was second to an unrelated comic title, and I wasn't sure it was really The Witcher within. In any case, I followed the previous series and really liked it, and so I'm excited they are doing another series out sometime soon.
Hulk: Smashtronaut
This was paired with a new Avengers series in the comic I got. I don't usually follow The Hulk but when he goes into space like he did with the Planet Hulk series years ago, I'm all in. In this preview Hulk fights MODOK and steals his space suit and leaves Earth which has treated him so badly - ya know, he's misunderstood, as usual. I love that they had MODOK there, another favorite of mine, although, I'm not sure he will be in the continuing story or not. Anyway, I found out this series has already come out. It was a six part series released last November. I saw all but the first issue on the stands, so I guess I'll wait for the trade.
In the meantime, I saw a new Hulk Vs Thor series. I remember an animated feature that came out years ago by the same name that I loved a lot so, without another series to follow right now, I'm on board for Hulk vs Thor. Good thing too is that my friend is a big Hulk fan, so I can share the comic with him and we can talk about it. Nothing like having loud arguments about the Marvel Universe to punctuate the nerdy gaming session. It sort of completes the picture, don't you think?
