The first issue of the new Bloodborne comic has dropped, and I just read it. This is the fifth volume of Bloodborne comics to come out. I'm only just finding out about these thanks to free comic book day last month which featured part of this issue. Here's a pic of the cover I got. There are at least four alternate covers. I liked this one the best.

I'm not overly thrilled with the inside art though. The style reminds me a bit of prints from wood etchings. The colors are dominated by browns, overall a limited color pallete, and low contrast. My vision for a Bloodborne comic would be darker, higher contrast and striking instances of color or light. But that's just me.

I am enjoying the story so far. A hunter saves two kids in a house waiting for their father who has gone out to the plague/monster ridden city for food. Tragedy ensues via the Lady of the Lanterns, a creature with the power to create illusions to draw in victims, and the boy ventures out into the city to find his father. I'm interested. I'll keep following this when the next issue drops in a month or so.

A good video game related comic is pretty rare in my experience. This gets just 3 stars out of 5 (meaning I liked it) because the art is so important, and I wasn't thrilled by it. I do love the covers though.

That big ugly on the cover looks kind of like the final boss in Final Fantasy 4.
