Oh, not much time today so just a quick photo dump.

My friend Mark and I started playing some board games. I bought Catan but we started with some classics first. Here's chess in which I got beat twice but it was fun. I'm not deeply into chess. Mark's had more experience playing it.

Then there was Monopoly. I lost which confirmed my suspicion that owning the orange monopoly (New York, Tennesse, St. James) is the best monopoly on the board. My reasoning is that the odds of landing there are a bit better than most because the jail is ten spaces away; and we all know what happens to landlords frequently: Go To Jail, Do Not Pass Go, Do Not Collect $200. Oh yeah, played with Skylanders figures 'cause I can. I was Pop-Fizz and Mark was Trigger Happy.

I got the Pumpkin Eye-Brawl Skylander in the mail and found out, to my disappointment, that is actually a "Chase" variant, which means it does not have different in-game abilities from Eye-Brawl. However, it looks way cool lit up on the portal of power - that pumkin head lights up. Just in time for Halloween.

I had to create a special car for an achievement in Forza Horizon 5 and then promply fell in love with it. Here it is, a Ford Mustang painted in Mithral silver (I call it Mithril silver because, I didn't realize this, the Mithral items in Lego LotRs are silver colored). I am now calling my silver GameCube and silver slim PS2 Mithral consoles. Ha Ha.

That's it for now. Gotta dash. I've got much more to add to the gaming scrapbook when I have time.

I read somewhere that the most frequently landed-on Monopoly property is Illinois Avenue, which is the highest value Red property. The oranges together are the most frequently landed on group.

So, in the game we played, I had all the blue monopolies first, Baltic, Mediterranean, Oriental, Vermont, Connecticut and he had the orange. Then I got the reds but by the time I did, he had bankrupted me just on the oranges with houses and then hotels. The blues didn't help at all and it took too long to build up the reds because of that. But yeah, that corner around Free Parking seems to be the best spot on the board. Don't waste your money on Boardwalk, ha ha.

Incidentally, I've visited the real life Marven Gardens, which gets its name because it sits on the boundary between Margate City and Ventnor City in NJ. Unfortunately, the homes there are a little out of my budget.

Tell me about it. My dad got a summer house years ago but avoided NJ and went for North Carolina's Outer Banks instead because it was cheaper. However, all my neighborhood friends in the Philly suburbs had parents with houses on the Jersey Shore. My sister went there many times this summer because her husband's parents have a house in Ocean City. I have occasionaly spent time there at friend's houses.

I believe all the monopoly properties are street names in some particular Jersey shore town, like you mentioned.

They're based on Atlantic City, with Boardwalk being the AC boardwalk. AC looks kind of run down these days, as the hopes of various developers to turn it into the Vegas of the east never came to fruition. I took my wife to AC for her birthday when we lived out there. We had dinner at a nice steakhouse (22 ounce prime rib and potatos with all the fixin's, $20 a plate!) and stayed in a nice hotel with a good hot tub, but as far as entertainment, we felt it would probably have been just as well to go play the slots at Maryland Live. I felt a little bad that it didn't quite pan out. Still, I can now say I've seen Atlantic City. And Marven Gardens.

Oh, right. AC=Monop.
I used to visit my friend in Brigantine, an island right next to AC. I'd drive right past the Golden Nugget casino every time. My friend worked in one of the casinos, I forget which. But I never really visited AC, I don't think. Maybe once when I was really young, I'm not sure.

Ha ha. Well, my first silver, ehem. . . I mean Mithral, PS2 died. I'm sure it was the laser wearing out. But, I had to get another one exactly like it and did. I only wish there was a Mithral OG Xbox and my collection would be complete. My precious - gollum, gollum.

I learned how to play Chess from the old PC game Battle Chess.  I also learned from that game that I don't like Chess.

I wonder if they made a Skylanders Monopoly?  I used to always play as the iron in Monopoly, but they discontinued that piece because it was one of those old timey non-electric irons.
