Awesome stuff. Here in Phoenix, we have the Game On Expo every year. I've never been. I want to go next year.
Retro Con, PhilaPa

That's RetroCon Philly, PA, in the town of Oaks where there is a large convention center in the suburbs. I actually went to two conventions last saturday, RetroCon and a Sports Card Convention. I tagged along with my friend and his dad to the sports card con, and then my friend and I went to RetroCon right next door. Here's some snaps and stories.
These were the celebrities at the sports card convention. Pitcher Mitch Williams, "Wild Thing", stands out to me, but we didn't stay long enough to meet the players. My friend only wanted one signiture and it was for the last minute addition of. . . the woman who got eaten first in the orginal Jaws movie. Weird. What was she doing there? Well, we couldn't find her anyway. Who knows where they put her.
A typical case of cards for sale at the con. My friend's dad knew vendors, graders and auctioneers at this con. My friend and his dad have a serious collection they're trying to sell.
When we finished at the sports card con, we figured the line for RetroCon would be gone, but it was even bigger. This picture reveals only about a quarter of the line. We walked slowly forward a little over an hour before getting in. It's always fun to chat along the way though and cosplayers frequently roamed the line for photos: Stormtroopers, Vader, and the Mandalorian were highlights.
This is the Monkee Mobile from the TV show. Mickey Dolenz was there to greet the fans (he's not the guy shown). Behind the car is the Dragula from the Munsters show. Butch Patrick, who played Eddie Munster, was there to sign your stuff.
This is the Delorean used in the Back to the Future film. You can sit in it and take photos. Next to this display was the celebrity Claudia Wells (not the person shown in the picture) who played Marty's girlfriend as shown in the movie poster to the right. My friend knew her through his celeb friend Claudia Christian (Commander Ivanova on Babylon 5). He chatted with Claudia Wells while I photographed them and then roamed to take some shots of cosplayers and look at the retro items for sale.
Two Master Chiefs, possibly a couple, in full mjolnir armor. Why not mithril armor?
OMG! It's Slimer! Ghostbusters wearing a proton pack are a popular cosplay but Slimer is kind of rare in my travels.
Optimus? An autobot anyhow. Impressively large but the kids aren't afraid of it.
A whole group together. Skeletor and others. I'm a nervous people photographer and often shy of getting the good people shot. It's not my thing, really, but I try. Here's some other stuff I saw.
Lots of old board games at this con. I didn't know they did a Tick board game, one of my all-time favorite cartoons, but I wasn't willing to pay the $60 asking price.
I had this electronic Boxing game as a kid, late 70s or early 80s. Maybe Mattel made it? LED games were popular with us kids at that time. We had a bunch of them.
I bought this series 2 Genesis at the con for $40. The controller turned out to be a bust but the console worked fine and played my PGA Tour game better than the Retron 3. I also bought Road Rash (PS1), RBI Baseball (NES), Risk (Genesis), Disney Infinity (3DS), and Activision Collection (PS1). Maybe something else, but I forget at the moment. I'll add it to the next blog.
Two cons, two wristbands, worn proudly all day.
It was a long but fun day. I think I was standing for 6 hours straight and didn't eat for 10 hours or so. We hit a burger joint on the way back.
