I'll relate some recent plays and then get on to my current sickness, High on Life, where I took a bunch of screen shots.

I revisited Assassin's Creed Odyssey for a Game Pass reward. I cleared a cave system and climbed a high point. This game is really fun as long as I don't have to do a lot of sneakin'. I say that like Gollum when being accused of "sneakin'" by Sam in LoTR (the animated version).

I've finished with Tiny Tina's Wonderlands after doing all the DLC. There's nothing more boring to me than farming bosses to get better loot. That's about all there is left to do. I played online multiplayer with randos for one battle run just to see how it was. These guys didn't even pick up any loot? I guess they were just out for XP and gold. Bored now.

I finished with Forza Horizon 5 even though I haven't done everything in the Hot Wheels DLC yet. I've decided that what I like about vehicular games is not racing but travel and exploration. I want to find a Sim-style vehicle game that isn't too hardcore complicated. Got any ideas?

I got back into Dreamlight Valley and unlocked the Moana area. I couldn't get her into the town though because I needed to unlock the shoreline in the village (she wants her house there, spoiled brat). So I started more quests for Scrooge McDuck and Mickey. I discovered you can increase your friendship rating with the Disney characters by having them chum around with you. If you've given them a specialty, like mining, they will give you extra drops when you mine when chumming. Fun stuff.

Then High on Life dropped on Game Pass, and I am now totally locked into this game. In one long day of gaming it seems like I'm nearing the final boss already.

High on Life is a FPS written by the guys who did Rick & Morty. The guns talk to you, one in the voice of Morty. I've spied other voice actors too like Kevin McDonald, originally from Kids in the Hall and Invader Zim, playing a boss. It's a very funny game and a good shooter. There's lots of exploration to do too, my favorite.

Anyway, here's some screenshots I took. This frist one is at your base of operations, your house, but not on Earth anymore and with a new "friend". Oh, that's my froggy gun on the right side. Its a shotgun. It also shoots out a platform you can use to help traversal.

This next pic shows one of the hilarious and gross moments that are common in the game.

gross

This one below is a nice landscape shot of a planet you warp to. I have a different gun. It has its own voice work and personality to go with it. It's the uzi of the bunch, kind of like the Needler in Halo. She can also slow time, alowing you access to new areas.

These two guys are the gatekeepers to the slums in the hub world your house is on for most of the bounty missions you go on. They argue with each other and you can decide which one to favor in order to get it to open the gate. From then on they will respond to you based on your decision. Neat! The gun I'm using there on the right is a grenade launcher of sorts. It shoots tiny critters (its babys) that attack enemies. It can also attach a critter to an enemy's head to make it fight for you for a time.

gate

Finally we have a meeting with the politcal hopeful that's helping you (you hope). I have the same gun there as before and you can see the critters on its back. I didn't show the gun you start with that's voiced by Morty. It's a sort of pistol that has a grenade launcher attachment. I use it most of the time because it's quick and accurate. It's grenade is a bunch of goo that can move platforms or get enemies into there air where you can juggle them with you main shot. I love how it continually encourages you to use the goo cannon. It never fails to get me to giggle.

politico

There are lots of interesting twists on the FPS formula in this game. One of them is the challenges list which is designed as an online forum. Posters suggest things you should try in the game, sometimes absurd stuff. Fun!

I'll be High on LIfe until Christmas for sure, but I feel like I might beat the game during the Xmas break (I got three days off from the library). We'll see. the game might be longer than I think.

It doesn't look like my cup of tea, but High on Life at least sounds somewhat original.

I'm not really into Rick and Morty, but I sure did like Invader ZIM!

Invader Zim is fun. I watched it because Zim is voiced by the guy who later did Kaos in Skylanders. Good show. I like Rick and Morty too but haven't seen more than a few episodes from season 1.

The game is certainly adult themed and has tons of "crass humor" as Kenny the gun says in one scene.

The same guy who does the voice of ZIM and the bad guy in Skylanders also is the voice of Raz in Psychonauts.

Oh yeah, right. I knew that, just forgot about it. I met him at a convention once. He was also Crypto's boss Pox in Destroy All Humans.

That's cool that you got to meet him!  I got to meet Charles Martinet once.  He's the voice of Mario.  A long time ago I also met Don Messick.  He's passed away now, but he did the voices for all sorts of famous Hanna Barbera characters like Scooby Doo, Papa Smurf, Boo Boo, Muttley, and many more!

High on Life looks interesting, but I have neither a Xbox nor a PC.

Currently playing Persona 5 Royal and Crisis Core Reunion, which is an excellent remaster of the PSP classic. Oh, and Valkyrie Profile is out on PS4/5 now.

Too bad that High on Life isn't on Playstation or Switch right now.

I saw Persona 3 Portable and P4 Golden on Xbox Game Pass recently. Surprising and I might have to dig back into those sometime.

Man, I had Valkyria Profile on PSP for so long and never got to it. I'd love to check out that game sometime. I have to reaquire a PS4 at some point.
