Interesting year dominated by Street Fighter II and TMNT in the arcades. Bungie and ID companies were founded and GameInformer began this year. I made a list of stuff I wish to revisit or try for the first time. Thought I'd share it.

Final Fantasy IV: Called FF II in the US when it came out it's now just IV all over. I have the DS port and once I'm done with FFIII on DS, I'll start it again. I played it years ago and got stuck in the dungeon that doesn't allow metal objects, like weapons. I didn't know what to do except search the world for other types of weapons but found none. I think I'll figure it out this time though. I loved the game up until that point. Cecil and that Air Ship. Love it.

Super Castlevania IV: I have the Castlevania Anniversary Collection, so it's my duty to bang my head against these games from time to time to justify my purchase. Maybe I'll get more than 20 minutes out of it this time?

Mega Man 4: Diddo with this on the Mega Man Legacy Collection I have.

Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past: I have this on GBA. This was the one that starts with Link washed up on a shore with his memory gone? If so I've played it before and got stuck somewhere. Hope I can get farther this time. It's also on Switch where I will likely play it this time.

Duke Nukem: Before the massive success of the 3D version, there were two Dukey platformers. Seems there aren't any console ports of this, only a way to play is on Windows, so I may not get to it. Funny, they almost called it Duke Nukum to avoid copyright issues with a Duke Nukem character in the Captain Planet and the Planeteers animated TV show. I may have to watch that to see the character they neglected to trademark.

Streets of Rage: I loved this back in the day on Genesis. I used to have the whole series of 3 cartridges. I'll play this now on Sega Genesis Classics, but I just might go out and get the cartridge again.

Splatterhouse: This '89 game was on the wiki list for an award it won for the TG-16 version in '91. I have it as part of the Xbox 360 Splatterhouse game but I don't want to break out the 360 right now. It's available on the Namco Museum for Switch and as part of Arcade Archives for Switch and PS4. Maybe I'll play it on Switch, or maybe I'll look into getting the cart, if it's not too pricey.

Final Fantasy Legend III: Now called SaGa 3 which was ported to the DS in Japan. I have the GB version, my only option to play it. I'll have to see if I can play it on my DS Slim or GBA. I think those had back compat slots? Otherwise it's the GameCube's Game Boy Player, but I don't want to set that up at the moment.

Road Rash: The first game in the series. I used to have the first three on Genesis way back. I also had, until recently, the EA Replay PSP game that ported the first three. Now I got nuttin'. So, my only option is to find a Genesis cartridge, which is my pleasure. I have a fat gift card from my PSP trade-ins at Game Junkies to spend.

Car Wars: The Card Game: This Steve Jackson version of the original Cars Wars intrigues me. I swear I saw this one day a while back being sold at Barnes & Noble. I don't see it now though. I'll look at prices and maybe get it. I used to play Car Wars in college with my roommate. It's a really fun pen and paper game where you mod your cars and fight each other. Lots of depth of detail in the game too.

That's my list. Any comments?

I think the Zelda game you're thinking of is Link's Awakening.

Oh, okay. You're probably right.

I still need to play that one. Remake looked cool. I can probably emulate the Game Boy original though.

FF4 was really the game that got me into RPGs, even though I had played Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior prior.  The problem with the DS port is they made everything way too hard!

I'm not a big fan of Castlevania games, mainly because Simon Belmont controls like he ate a big breakfast before going out to fight vampires.  With that said, Super Castlevania IV has neat music and I like how you can hold out your whip and swing it all around.  If you have the Castlevania collection, try Kid Dracula.  That's my favorite.

Unfortunately the Mega Man games just keep getting harder.  For Mega Man 4, I'd try Toad Man's stage first, as his pattern is pretty easy to figure out.  Or maybe Ring Man.  His pattern is a bit harder, though.

The game where Link washes up on a shore is Link's Awakening, which came out after Link to the Past.  Link's Awakening is my top favorite Zelda game, so if you play that one, I'd be happy.  But Link to the Past may be my second favorite Zelda game.

Is the Pixel Perfect FF4 better then?

Yeah. It's not too hard and not too easy. It also has a lot of supplemental material.

Man, I want to splurge and get the whole Pixel Perfect collection. I wish it was a physical disc, I'd have been more eager to buy it.

I actually broke down and bought the cartridge version for Switch. It's an Asian version, but it supports English.

A Link to the Past.

That is all.
