Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire retook the sales crown in 2003 making it five years since '98 that the franchise won it. Mario Kart Double Dash, a game I always wanted for its co-op but never got, was #2 in '03. Steam was fully released out of beta and Call of Duty began. Here are the games I'd like to play again or for the first time.

Played Then. Play It Again.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (Xbox): I've tackled this game a bunch of different times without getting to the end. One time I even got to the part with assassin droid HK-47 who calls humans "meat bags" (I saw a life sized model of it at Retro Con a few weeks ago). That was 20 hours of gameplay, if I remember right. One of these days I'll commit to finishing it.

Beyond Good & Evil (Xbox): I was excited for this because it had photography gameplay. Don't think I ever finished it. I tried it again on Xbox 360 when the HD remaster came out and got stuck somewhere. Its still there on my Xbox Series S waiting for another try. Michel Ansel of Rayman fame was behind the game. It's got good characters, story and graphics for the time. A worthy game to return to.

Call of Duty (PC): Pretty sure I played this on PC back then and then again as COD Classic on Xbox 360. It's currently not available on Xbox Series S, I think, which is a shame. I'd love to return to it. Mad Krammer and I played the first four COD games (1, 2, 2: Big Red One, and 3) before Advanced Warfare came out and we balked at it. Possibly because it wasn't WWII but more likely it was the style of gameplay, which was more about precision and head-shots then a more arcady feel.

Viewtiful Joe (NGC): I loved this game back then. Its comic book style and the fighting were great. Both of us played it a lot but not all the way through. It gets darn hard.

Medal of Honor: Rising Sun (Xbox, PS2): We were playing the Medal of Honor series (MoH, MoH: Underground and MoH: Frontline) back then too. This was WWII Pacific Theater stuff. I remember it was pretty good.

Crimson Skies (Xbox): We played this flight combat game a lot too back then. Its the one flight combat game that I don't get annoyed with because it has a quick move that can turn your plane around 180 degrees. You don't end up flying around in circles all the time chasing enemy planes like you do in most other flight shooters.

Hulk (all): Mad Krammer played this a lot, and maybe I did too, but mostly he did. You can cause some serious destruction in the game, which is a lot of fun. I'd like to check it out again, but so far I only have its sequel The Incredible Hulk.

Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes (Xbox): I tried to get this game again recently and found it quite pricey. Too bad because Mad Krammer and I played this co-op and it's just like the Guantlet games such as Gauntlet Legends and Dark Legacy. It was a lot of fun.

Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures Games (board): I was quite enamored of the little figures for this version of DnD and was collecting them for a while kind of like I did Skylanders years later. I don't have them anymore and they are kind of difficult to find now. Something about their design was really good. I'd love to get a hold of a collection again.

Played Later or Never:

Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga (GBA, 3DS): I played this a little bit when I got the GBA cart a while ago after I 100% finished Partners in Time on DS. Not sure why I didn't finish it but I'd like to now.

Ratchet & Clank Going Commando (PS2): Back then I remember collecting the R&C games but never getting to them. Years later I got the PS3 collection of 1-3, and I still have that. I've dabbled in the first game and maybe this sequel but I never really dug in and finished them like I did the PS4 game just titled Ratchet & Clank. I NEED to do that.

Advance Wars 2 (GBA): I keep replaying the first game and only once have I started its sequel. I have Days of Ruin too and never even touched it. I got the Switch 1-2 collection recently so I really need to get through the whole series.

Golden Sun: Lost Age (GBA): I have this and the first game, so no excuses. I'd like to play this RPG.

Silent Hill 3 (PS2, part of HD Collection on everything): I have the HD Collection for Xbox 360 and can buy it on Xbox Series S when I want. I need to play through 2 and 3 sometime. I loved the first one.

That's about it that I'm thinking about for '03. Anything else come to mind out there?

Everyone talks about Mario Kart Double Dash but nobody talks about a better racing game on the GameCube: Kirby's Air Ride!

I must be the only person who didn't like Beyond Good and Evil.  I didn't like the sneaking around mechanics.  I usually don't.

Viewtiful Joe is great but way too hard.

Mario & Luigi:  Superstar Saga was a great RPG.  The best one in that series was Bowser's Inside Story.  Luckily both were remade on the DS.

Ratchet and Clank 2: Going Commando was VASTLY improved over the first game.  I really liked the first three games in the series.

I was just looking at Kirby's Air Ride and wondering if it was good or not.

I agree wholeheartedly with all your other comments.

Kirby's Air Ride is so awesome.  The City Trial Mode is so fun.  I wish they'd make a sequel.

Cool. I look out for it at the game store next time I'm there.
