It's unlikely that I'll get to these within the month of July, but it's fun to see the list and consider if I need to pick up any of these for my collection. These are my picks from page 2 of the Metacritic best of all time games for 2007-2009

Rock Band 2 - I'd like to revisit this and maybe pick up a toy guitar again. I always love games with periferal controlers or toys-to-life portals and such.

Final Fantasy VI (GBA) - This is on Switch as a Pixel Remaster. There's no way I'd try and get the GBA cart.

Crysis - This FPS is on the list for the PC version, but its port to console right now is probably even better looking than what was originally the best looking game back then. I've tried it before but I'd like to take a deeper dive.

God of War: Chains of Olympus - I used to have this on PSP and even played some of it there. I now have it as part of the GOW Saga collection for PS3. It's great.

Killzone 2 - I have it as part of the Trilogy Collection for PS3. I'd consider picking up a stand alone copy for my collection.

Assassin's Creed II - Not a huge fan of the series (not a stealth fan) but I'd like to give it another shot. Some people think this is still the best AC game.

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story - I have this on DS and need to get to it. I loved Partners in Time.

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 - I've played this on a PS2, Vita and even a bit on XSS since it was (or still is) on Game Pass. I just need to finish the darn thing.

Metroid Prime 3 - On the Wii and part of the Trilogy Collection on Wii. I should've grabbed that Trilogy when it came out. I was thinking about it back then. Now it's impossibly expensive, but I bet I can get 3 by itself for cheap. I have 1 and 2 for Gamecube, two of the very few NGC games I still have.

And that's list 2, all 90 or better on Metacritic. I now have some stuff I can look for at Game Junkies next time I'm there. What do you think? Some good years in gaming, no?

FF6 is one of my top five favorite games of all time.

Bowser's Inside Story is the best of the Mario & Luigi games.

Metroid Prime 3 is good.  Thankfully it's not as hard as 2 was.

The pixel remaster of FF6 was very high on Metacritic when it came out. I look forward to playing it. I loved the FF1 remaster a lot.

If Bowser's Inside Story is better than Partners in Time, I'm going to love it.

My two favorite games out of this era were Valkyria Chronicles, Fallout 3, Super Mario Galaxy, and Tales of Vesperia. I bought VC on PC, PS4, and Switch. I own Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition on Switch. Demon's Souls also came out around this time. Among some hidden gems of the era were Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn and the DS re-releases of Dragon Quest 4 and 5. It's really a shame we didn't get Dragon Quest 5 in particular, it's easily as good as any of the SNES-era Final Fantasy games.

I still have my PS3 Valkyria Chronicles and Demon's Souls games. I always want physical copies of those from when they first came out.

With the DQIII remaster on the way (November), I'm super excited to see them remaster the whole series. I managed to miss those DS games.
