The Week So Far

A half-a-day left to game, but I had some time to write, and so here's what I've played so far.

Flock - I kind of stopped playing because I forgot how to add creatures to your flock and couldn't do it no matter what I tried. I looked for some instructions within the game but couldn't find any. The only solution was to restart from the beginning and learn it again. No thanks. I did enjoy playing it though and may return someday. I got my sheep to graze and chased fast critters around. I got the hang of flying pretty well.

Skyrim - I played the remastered version on Game Pass and got farther than ever before but that wasn't that far. I escaped the dragon and joined the Companions in a nearby town. I put on survival mode (a mistake) and found it difficult to keep my hunger at bay. I was a Wood Elf but weilded a two-handed hammer I had found (probably also a mistake). It was slow and I kept getting murdered on mountain paths as I tried to travel from town to town (fast travel is off in survival mode). Man does this game look good though. I'll return sometime and turn off survival mode.

Red Dead Redemption - I checked it out on XSS in the original 360 version. Why isn't there a remastered version? Anyway, 5 seconds into it brought back such vivid memories of my previous time playing it that I didn't want to repeat it. Good memories, but just too familiar. I didn't feel like doing that horse race against that woman on the ranch again. Maybe next time I'll be more interested in replaying it. A splendid game.

Batman Arkham City - I vetoed this too because I had played it several times in the past few years. Not to completion though, and I should do that, but I never could quite 100% enjoy this. I always found the open world a little too open and often got lost. Well, next time I might be more keen to play it.

Pac-Man CE DX and Persona 4 Golden are on my wish list, and even though Pac-Man is $10 and Persona 4 on sale for $14 on XSS, I'm kind of looking for $5 Pac-Man and $10 Persona 4. So I'll wait.

Mass Effect 3 was next on my list and I thought this would be a great oportunity to experience the transfer of my character from ME2 to ME3, which I've never done before. I did that and now I am deep into the game, not stopping until I've done everything. And there's a lot to do, overwelming, so many side quests popping up all the time. I think it's very interesting how the events, as you played them in ME2, come up again in ME3. Squad members who died in the last mission of ME2 are still dead. Ones who survived come back with new additions to their story after the events of ME2. Even side missions done in ME2 have repercussions in ME3. I think that's great. There's so many stories weaved into this series, it's kind of mind boggling. I'm loving it.

I also watched my friend Mark do the last mission in ME2 just after me, and it was interesting to see how his ending was different, what squad members survived, and what choices he made. I hope he moves on to ME3 like I did so I can see how he's playing it differently and what dialog and scenes pop up that I didn't get. He plays mostly Renegade while I go for Paragon in most situations.

Doom I-II Bundle - This just got added to Game Pass, and I started playing it. It has every last official level made at any time for Doom 1 and 2 plus tons of mods you can download and try out. I always wanted to try mods for games. Usually that feature was only for PCs, but now I can try some out on Xbox. I'm excited, but I didn't see the Brutal Doom mod, which I've always wanted to try. I'm guessing it was a mod you had to buy. The mods here are all free.

That's it for now. Later I'll be moving farther through ME3 and playing a little more Doom 1-2 for GP rewards.

What're playin'?

I can't imagine Pac-Man CE DX ever going down to 5 bucks.

Right now I'm playing a game on the Switch called Bakeru.  I'm reviewing it and I'm under embargo so I don't want to talk about it too much, but there is a demo of it you can download on the Switch if you want to check it out.  I really like it so far anyway.  Here's a trailer:

Well, I may have to just spring for it at $10 then. I'm sure it's worth it.

I love Bakeru's "travel all over Japan", and the fighting looks interesting too. I'll have to demo it next time I'm on Switch.
