I explored some short Game Pass games and dove deep into Halo 5 this week. Also, a recap of Retrocon.
Open Roads:
I finished this game and got all the achievements in 5 hours or so. It's a story based game where you click on objects and make dialog choices. The story is about a mom and her teenage daughter getting to know each other and their family history on a road trip. It takes place in the early 2000s. The teenager has one of those old soap-bar shaped cell phones that just takes calls and lets you text and that's it. Remember those? The story is good and so is the voice acting. I enjoyed it.
Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Vengance of the Slayer:
This was a fun one. It's a totally old school FPS ala Duke Nukem: limited open world, lots of interactivity with the environment, silly humor, weapons, goofy gore. I had fun until I didn't because I couldn't figure out what else to do on a particular level. Enjoyable. My friend watching got interested and almost bought it. I had it as part of Game Pass.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy:
I played the first two cases, and I think I'll keep this installed for future Game Pass rewards, if I need them. Fun stuff. You gather evidence, talk to suspects and battle for victory in the courtroom, pressing witnesses for accurate testimony and uncovering contradictions to beat that annoying and unscrupulous prosecutor Miles Edgeworth. I got my friend looking up the price of the game as he watched me. He really wanted to play it.
Halo 5:
I had played this through when it came out almost a decade ago now, so this time I just hunted for interesting achievements. I ended up replaying the entire thing looking for every last skull and intel. I found all the intel but a few of the skulls are really difficult to get. One in particular I wouldn't even try unless I had a co-op partner to work with.
I started out being annoyed at constant lack of ammo and the stupidity of my AI teammates, but I learned the dashing melee attack and how to direct my team, which made things much more fun.
After the intel run, I tackled several level-specific achievements and got them. I cranked the game down to easy and dash-punched everything in sight. Pair that with an energy sword or shotgun (human or covey), the cowbell Skull for increased explosions and physics, and I was a football lineman destroying an offense. I loved it!
Retrocon:
Rick's Picks did a pretty good video showing just about everything at the show. It's very possible I and my friend Mark are in the background somewhere in this.
My favorite part was meeting Townsend Coleman and hearing him do the voice of The Tick (animated show). You can see him at 6:15 in the video.
My friend bought some old plastic models for kit-bashing and I hunted video games, although, I didn't find any I felt I must have.
Lee Majors and Lindsey Wagner were there and my buddy got their autographs. We also talked to the guy who ran the General Lee car display.
Lots of good cosplay passed us as we moved around.
My friend Mark also has two co-workers from his day-job days who run two tables of graphic arts posters they make. Great stuff too. One is named Scott Derby. Check him out.
And that's a week and more. Wutz up?

I freaking love the Phoenix Wright series. They are so good. I just got the Miles Edgeworth Investigations Collection on Switch. I haven't played it yet, but I will soon.
When I was a kid I used to love to watch The Dukes of Hazzard. I would set up my Pac-Man TV tray in front of the TV and get out all my Dukes of Hazzard Hot Wheels and play with them while the show was on (hey I was 4). I wish I still had those cars. One time at E3 they were showing off a Dukes of Hazzard PlayStation game and at the booth they had the General Lee car and I met the lady who played Daisy Duke on the show.

Phoeniz Wright would be so good on DS, or Switch for that matter since I keep forgetting it's also a portable device.
My favorite car is the Dodge Charger '69 which I believe is what they used for the General Lee. Dom's car in Fast and Furious is a '70 Dodge Charger, and I like that too.
I met both Daisy and Bo Duke (Barbara Bach and John Scheider) at RetroCon last year. My friend Mark got their autographs. I wish I could've met James Best who played Rosco P. Coltrane, but he passed away in 2015. He had an interesting career.
