Only one more half-day game-day left for me this month, Monday. I've been deep into Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel this week but also other stuff. Here's 'bout.

Time Sinks

Borderlands The Pre-Sequel:  I bought the Legendary Collection for $10 on a sale because I didn't have Pre-Sequel digitally. I've been playing it for achievements I didn't get before. This week I got the one for getting 100 kills with Athena's Aspis shield. I had almost beaten the game when I finally got it. Then I started playing with Nisha the Lawbringer to get her Showdown skill achievement. I have to kill 10 enemies during one Showdown activation. I've gotten real close but maybe on Monday I'll get it. I enjoy Pre-Sequel. Every time I restart it I refine my play style to make it more fun for me like restricting myself to two weapons only this time with Nisha.

Quits & Casuals

Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep - After beating the game, I quit during a True Vault Hunter mode playthrough. I found the gunplay really frustrating. It's devilishly hard to get some stability in sighting enemies. Best to find a weapon that can just spray the field with bullets and hope they hit. I'm having much more luck with Pre-Sequel right now.

Bioshock Infinite Complete Edition - I was working on a Hard difficulty playthrough and also hunting achievements I didn't have. I was making good progress, and I think I can definitely beat the game on Hard. However, I got sidetracked with Borderlands Pre-Sequel, and now I'm moving on to my next month of games. It's okay to leave it behind unfinished, something to do next year.

Atlas Fallen: Reign of Sand

This is on Game Pass. I was using it for GP rewards points but was getting quite into it. It's a bit like God of War but with an open world, better and more varied traversal options and lots of collectibles, crafting, and ability upgrades. Oh, and sand-boarding (as I call it) where you can slide on the sand as if snowboarding. I like it a lot, but I stopped because there's this thing called a Watcher that, if you get anywhere near it, it pulls you into a multi-enemy battle where I can't beat the final boss of it. I couldn't avoid that thing while pursuing the main quest out on the open sand. What gives with that? Still, very cool game.

We Love Katamari Reroll + Royal Reverie - I love the silliness and music of this but I don't exactly like the controls. I could never quite get used to them on Xbox.

Dead Space 2 - This is on Game Pass. I tried to use it for reward points but it wouldn't register with the achievements I got. Still, I really love this and will return to it sometime for sure. My buddy Mark was playing Dead Space 3 along side me while I watched. Great series!

Legend of Mana - This and Trials of Mana just dropped on Game Pass this week. I played Legend and have Trials downloaded for next week. Legend looks amazing! I got the first dungeon placed on the map and cleared it but what now? I can't figure out how to progress? I'll look it up sometime but I moved on.

Microsoft's Solitaire - Reinstalled this on my phone to see if I could get just one more achievement there and to get some reward points for playing a Game Pass game on days I don't really game. The remaining achievements I have are very annoying. I need 100 games of Spider and Freecell, two Solitaire varients I don't enjoy very much. I'm half way there already, so why not one or so a day for a while. Other achievements are tied to medals and expert and grandmaster level games which I can never win. Maybe I'll look those up on Trueachievements and see if there is a trick.

Well, that's a month just about. Onto 2016-2018 next week where I'll begin by revisiting Forza Horizon 4.

I wonder if Legend and Trails of Mana are oin sale because Visions of Mana just came out.  I never played Legend of Mana, but I wanted to on the PSOne.  But I was a poor college student at the time.  The original Super Famicom Trails of Mana was a hot mess, but I think they improved it in the remake.  Stlll haven't beaten it, though.  I'd like to get Visions of Mana but Square is making it really hard to get on the PS4.

Next time you fire up the Switch, you should download this game.  There is a free demo of it you can try first.

Oh yeah, Bakeru. I'll have to remember that when I next start up my Switch.

Trials and Legend of Mana are on Game Pass right now. I had some trouble with Legend but I'm liking the remake of Trials quite a bit.

Man, I have always wanted to like Legend of Mana and I've really tried. I have started and given a serious attempt at least five different times but I can't get into it. The game's systems are very opaque (it's by the guy behind the SaGa games, so go figure) but the killer for me is that I find the battles to be so sluggish. And when you leave a screen and come back, the enemies have respawned. BUT it has an all-time soundtrack. One of my absolute favorites. So please look that up at least!

I have been talking about getting the Dead Space remake ever since getting a PS5 and looks like it will be on PS+ next month (October), so perhaps I will be playing that soon!

Yeah, I kept getting stuck wondering what to do next in Legend of Mana.

Oh the Dead Space remake reignited my interest in the series. Now I love all three of them. Can't wait to finish 2 and 3 sometime.

"Wake Me Up When September Ends" by Green Day is sung by Billie Joe Armstrong, leading to memes asking people to wake him up every Oct. 1

Haha, I haven't seen that one yet.

Might be a generational thing. As a MIllennial, that American Idiot album was HUGE.

I loved Dookie, was actually learning bass from it back then. American Idiot never caught on with me. I do remember how popular it was though.
