With such game lists as I have, I was surprised to not stick to anything until I hit a RPG on list three.

Deep Dives

Ni No Kuni II - This was the first title on my third playlist for this month. I just ripped through the Xbox games on my first two lists. I guess I'm in the mood for RPGs right now. Ni No Kuni II is much more playable than the first one because of its friendlier battle system. In NNKII you fight in real-time with your main character and activate higgledies when they're ready. It's much better than trying to orchestrate multiple higgledies and fight at the same time like in the first game. I'm hooked for the long haul right now, enjoying every varied bit of it.

Trials of Mana remake - I tried this out on Game Pass and found myself drawn in. It's so much more straight forward than Legend of Mana, which had me scratching my head constantly. I'm using it for GP rewards points, but since Ni No Kuni II is also on GP, I don't really need it for that now. Still, I'm keeping it on the back burner for more play when I'm finished with Ni No Kuni.

Medium Length Plays

Forza Horizon 4 - I played The Eliminator mode a bunch of times trying to get two achievements there that aren't that difficult. They just require gathering new cars and winning a few races. It's a fun mode. It's online multiplayer where you activate impromtu races with players and win until you lose and are eliminated. I've never won out, but I occasionally win single races. I also did a bunch of challenges on the Lego DLC map and surprised myself by getting an achievement for winning all the races. I can almost build that T-Rex for my yard, but the remaining challenges are so darn tricky. I kind of wore myself out on it and moved on.

Short Plays and Not-in-the-Moods

Dead Cells - I thought I would get into this more because I liked it last time I played it on Game Pass, but it was not to be. I was never keen on platformers even if it did have shooting or fighting in them.

XCOM 2 - I played the first few missions and liked it, as I have before, but it's just too darn complex for my stressed out mind right now. I mean, what to research? Ahhhh!

Civ VI - I almost made it through the tutorial, but even that is a long-player. I really like it but complexity isn't my thing when life gets tense like it is for me right now.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus - Man, is this a brutal game, and not just in gameplay gore. The story is harsh in the extreme. I only wish I could skip the several cut scenes at the beginning of this game because I've seen them before. I mean, list the worst things in human nature, and you are confronted with them without subtlety. However, I love the gunplay in this game. I played on Hard difficulty and had some crazy firefights while still in a wheelchair before I got the power armor and could get around better. Coming back to my system after a break, though, I wasn't in the mood for heavy mayhem. I soon discovered that a colorful RPG was what I needed.

I'm setting up my PS4. When I'm done with Ni No Kuni II, I'll take a back step to my second set list and dig into some great PS4 exclusives I can't wait to work on.

Lots of great games. I think my equivalent of your colorful RPG vs dark Nazi game is that lately I need to watch it when it comes to the music I'm consuming, especially in terms of lyrics.

That could produce some good "vs" lists that might begin with, Of Montreal vs Behemoth. I'll have to consider posing that idea on some subreddit.

In my case, Children of Bodom vs Silversun Pickups. The latter puts on a great show (well, so did Bodom but they no longer tour and I saw them in '08)!

I played the first Ni no Kuni up until the point I thought it should've ended.  It kind of dragged after that.  Never played the sequel, but I hear it's totally different.

Trials of Mana remake is pretty good.  I never beat that one either, though.

Wow, you got far in Ni No Kuni. I got about 20 hours in the first time before the battle system got to me. This time I was out after only a few battles. The second one is managable for me, although, I wish I could feed my higglies.
