My car's in the shop and so there will be a delay -- hence the blog. Onward.

My list is now 74 games strong. E-gads! Well, I do this partly so I will find something at the local game shops I can pick up on the cheap. I bought a few things. Here they are:

Animaniacs for SNES - My gaming buddy was a huge fan of the show back in the 90s, and so it might get a reaction out of him when I play this. I almost don't want to know if this game is good or not before I try it. I just want to see some Pinky and the Brain in there somewhere.

The Humans for Genesis - This is really more like a Lemmings style game, maybe called a puzzle-platformer, but my theme isn't strictly action-platformers but also platformers that interest me in some way. I have "Curious Platformers" as a placeholder name for my other blog at the moment.

The Jungle Book for SNES - Good or no, I want to try it. I noticed in going through the complete SNES/Genesis database that there were quite a lot of licensed IP games that generation. I sort of picked out some I thought were interesting from those.

QuackShot: Starring Donald Duck for Genesis - I was on the Genesis subreddit one day and someone posted about how they loved QuackShot. I happened across it at one of my local stores for a small price and bought it.

Sonic Mega Collection Plus for OG Xbox - What I was really looking for was either the Sonic Gems Collection on GameCube or PS2 or Sonic Origins Plus on PS4 or digital (I think it's on my wish list for Xbox Series right now), but I forgot that when I saw this and snatched it up anyway. I'm really after Tales Adventure which is in those other two collections, but I'm willing to give the Sonic games in Mega Collection a try again and see what happens. It's a great collection and a good addition to my OG Xbox library. It was cheap and CiB. Gotta get that sweet CiB action.

Taz: Escape from Mars and Taz Mania on Genesis - I really think Taz would make a great video game character. Just imagining him spinning in a whirlwind gets my gaming digits all a-quiver. Plus, Escape from Mars has some obvious references to my favorite Loony Toons, Duck Dodgers in the 24 1/2 Century. I got that one for $5. Oh yes. Sweet cheaps.

Tinhead on Genesis - This made me think of Metal Arms or Scrapland I remember playing on Original Xbox, but it probably is different. I like the cover art though and it's a platformer. Sold.

Toy Story on Genesis - So may licensed games this gen, but this is by Traveller's Tales maker of so many Lego games. How bad can it be? I have half a mind to make my theme Traveller's Tales games in fact.

Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion for 3DS - I love the Epic Mickey games in terms of setting, graphics and intended gameplay mechanics. Unfortuneately they haven't been very friendly to me in the gameplay department, but I still have to have them. This came up somehow when I was looking up platformers, and it immediately made my list. Then I happend across it for $10. SOLD. Hey, it may be terrible, but I'll enjoy it for all the dark Mickey style. And I need to build my 3DS collection again. It got decimated when I traded my 3DS all those years ago.

Well, those are my recent purchases. My plan is to set up the Genesis first and go through all the orignal carts I have that are platformers. I actually didn't have any platformers for Genesis before this shopping spree. I used to have a lot of Genesis games, but now it's only 13 games. The collection grows.

Those Disney games for the SNES/Genesis generation were brutal. I have Aladdin and Lion King for the Genesis, and I never finished either one. I've played one of those Taz games (can't remember which one now), and it was fun and I did manage to beat the game (probably on the easiest setting). My favorite platformers for the Genesis were Bubsy and Lost Vikings. Although, Lost Vikings is probably more of a puzzle platformer. I got to the last level and got stuck, because back in prehistoric times, as you well remember, most of us didn't have access to the internet and walkthroughs.

We had Aladdin for the SNES (made by Capcom) when I was a kid and it was quite playable and beatable. I've never played the Genesis one.

I'm a HUGE fan of Animaniacs, so I rented the SNES version as soon as I saw it.  Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed.  I found it more annoying than anything, which is a shame because Konami's Tiny Toon SNES game they made before it was really good.  But then, that Tiny Toons game was made by the same team that would later form Treasure, so you know.  I hear the Genesis version of Animaniacs is better.  But I didn't have a Genesis back then.

I've heard good things about QuackShot and the Taz games on Genesis.

Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion is actually a sequel to the Castle of Illusion game on Genesis!

I recently read Jason Schreier's book Press Reset and it covers the two console Epic Mickey games. Very interesting! I'd definitely recommend that book.
