My Xbox Playlist

I've chosen ten games from the Metacritic best of list to start my OG Xbox journey. Here they are.

Halo Combat Evolved (#1 on MC)

MK and I played this back in '01 almost every weekend until Halo 2 in 2004. So I kind of have this game memorized at this point. I've never beaten it on Legendary though and probably never will but I'll try that anyway (you'll notice in the video that it's for the PC version ported by Gearbox. It's a great short summation of the action in the game though).

Grand Theft Auto Double Pack (#2 on MC)

GTA coming to Xbox was a big deal back in the early aughts. I wasn't much a fan of the series though except for the 80s music and zany radio DJs in Vice City. I used to own the CD box set. I have just Vice City from the Double Pack and will give that a try.

Halo 2 (#3 on MC)

MK and I didn't play Halo 2 as much as 1 but plenty none the less. I remember waiting in line at a GameStop midnight release for it.

Burnout 3: Takedown (#6 on MC)

Always and forever a favorite racing game of both me and MK. MK did the crash mode a lot and I raced a lot. The controls in this game, especially at fully boosted hyper speed, is amazing.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (#7 on MC)

I need to pick up a physical copy of this again soon and I will. I could never finish this game for one reason or another. I often lose track of the objectives. In watching this trailer again, I see a lot of Mass Effect.

Project Gotham Racing 2 (#22 on MC)

I could never really get into the first PGR. Too much a precise simulation racer for my taste, but on a whim I tried later games in the series and found I quite enjoyed them. I have this one physical and so will see how far I get in it.

Half-Life 2 (#23 on MC)

Classic. I've played this to death on the 360 as part of Orange Box but I used to have the OG Xbox physical version. I don't anymore and it's kind of pricey now. I will certainly replay it when I get to 360 though.

Burnout Revenge (#32 on MC)

I played this mostly on 360 as well. It was a late release for the OG Xbox and quickly got a 360 version. I'd like to hunt down a physical copy for my OG Xbox though. I have this digitally but this year is all about original hardware and physical games.

Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay (#42 on MC)

This is still in my collection even though I could never get far in it. Maybe it's because there's a lot of stealth, at least in the first part of the game. But, I love the world, Vin Diesel's character and developer Starbreaze, so I'll give it another try.

Psychonauts (#47 on MC)

Oh classic DoubleFine. I love this developer so much. Their creativity and humor has turned me into an insufferable fanboy. I'll delight in booting this up in all its original physical glory. Maybe I can finish it for once too.

Two others that I own and are on the MC list under #47 that I will play, but aren't really favorites, are Ninja Gaiden Black and Madden 2004. NGB will likely beat me black and blue again and Madden may or may not interest me. Plus, I'm going to try a take a custom player through NCAA 2004 and Madden 2004 to see how that goes and if I can stand it.
