But here they are. All the stuff I played last week while my car was laid up with repairs.
X360
Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix - On 360 it is just titled Puzzle Fighter. It threw me for a minute when I couldn't find it under "s". I played this a bunch and remembered how hard it is. I was absolutely crushing my opponents by sending them an avalanche of blocks, but they were keeping up by some miracle. Anyway, I love this HD version for its characters and music.
Dust: An Elysian Tale
I finally played this after all these years and really enjoyed it all the way to the end. It's a 2D hack 'n slash fighter with some platforming. My only gripe was the map screen which doesn't tell you very much about where you are. It only tells the general area, but not the actual environment you move through. It leaves something to explore, I guess, but I would've liked for more detail as I went through it so I could backtrack to tricky areas and find more secret stuff. The story is pretty good and the fighting is excellent and challenging. I would definitely consider revisiting it some other time to try and complete the challenge rooms and find every last secret. It's worth it.
DS
Advance Wars: Days of Ruin - I declined to continue with this because I don't have a lot of time at home and levels can take a while to finish. I liked the post apocalyptic story. I need to get farther in it, and I will next time I fire up the DS.
Professor Layton and the Curious Village - I thought I would get deep into this again but a difficult puzzle had me doing mental math to the point where I decided I'd had enough for now. I always love the graphics and music in these games though - story too.
Bought
Axis and Allies 1941 (board game) - I found this at a Goodwill and scarfed it up for $5. The original Axis & Allies game came out in the 80s and this is one of the 2022 reprints. There are 15 games in the series, I just found out, and I haven't played any of them. I see the series as more accessible strategy war games than your typical Avalon Hill game like Squad Leader which has a small book worth of rules. I love the meaty board games like Squad Leader, but I also like simpler ones like this and games like Stratego and Battleship.
Playing Now
Defense Grid: The Awakening (X360) and Final Fantasy IV (DS)
I can't wait to get my car back on Wednesday. Its so tiring catching buses and trains to work all the time.
