The Halo comics have been just ok so far, but, being a fan of the franchise, I had to get this to check out, and it's pretty good so far. It's about an ODST, Lance Corporal Sarah Palmer, being recruited into a Spartan program after a particularly great performance on a mission. I think it's going to be the Spartan-IV program though. Master Chief was a Spartan II and the Spartan III's were like a low cost, less enhanced soldier. This comic takes place after the defeat of the Covenant, so it's probably a new Spartan program, which I guess will be revealed in upcoming issues. So far so good. The writing is crisp and to the point by Brian Reed, veteran of many comics and now writing exclusively for 343 Industries. The art, by Marco Castiello, is colorful and very much in line with previous Halo comics. I think I'm going to like this series.

Also found this Halo: Spartan Assault ad within and it reminds me of one more reason to get an iPad. I could just play this on my laptop though, now I think of it. Anyway, the ad is pretty cool.

Spartan Assault will only work on Windows 8 crud like my phone and not on an iPad. So, no need to buy one of those!

Ah man, it would look so good on a Surface or iPad. Oh well, I guess I'll settle for the old PC.

Well, a Surface would probably work. You'd have to double check...

Yea, I just heard E on Major Nelson's podcast mention Spartan Assault on the Surface. I guess I still think of any touch-pad device as an iPad.

I bought the newest Buffy comic today, also from Dark Horse.

I think Dark Horse did a Serenity comic. I was interested in that Whedon story.

Read that.  It didn't live up to the show.  The one he wrote was a lot better than the one written by various other writers.

I don't have any Halo comics,so this sounds pretty cool. I think I will like them because I enjoy almost everything Dark Horse does that's game related.

I've probably mentioned this before, but I did use to read all the Halo books including the comics. They weren't the greatest fiction out but they were good comfort food. They have had so much stuff come out in the last two years or three years though and I've fallen behind on all of them.

I thought some of the novels were really good. I actually enjoyed them a bit more than the comics. I'm thinking Karen Traviss is going to release another one soon. It'll be her third and that's always a good number...searching... Lo and behold, Karen's third Halo novel Mortal Dictata announced here: http://blogs.halowaypoint.com/Headlines/post/2013/07/09/Tor-Books-Announces-the-Third-Halo-Novel-in-the-Kilo-Five-Trilogy-by-Karen-Traviss.aspx coming out January 2014.

I actually might be able to play something like that on my laptop now, too! Exciting!
