Spidey 3 for Me

Picked up Spider-Man 3 for Xbox 360 today with a PowerUpRewards coupon. SM3 is just another game for me to try out and get some achievement points with but let's look at this game more closely. The 360 version was developed by Treyarch who have done Spider-Man 1 and 2 for last gen systems, and 3 and Web of Shadows for the current gen. The achievements don't look too difficult. I noticed there are photography missions in this game which is a bonus. I always love a photo mode in games. Reviews were mixed but If the combat is anything like X-Men Origins: Wolverine or Batman: Arkham Asylum, I'm going to love this game. I want to fight Rhino again like I did in Ultimate Spider-Man. That guy is strong, but dumb. Spider-Man is the perfect hero to dupe him and then make a wise-crack about it.

On my iPod is the One Of Swords podcast live at PAX with "E" from the Major Nelson Podcast and others. They talk about Zork and then play it live with the audience. How strange is it to listen to people playing a video game while driving? In my life, that's just slightly unusual.

Now I will continue lounge around in coffe shops all day, have a FroYo, maybe play some Valkyria Chronicles II on my PSP, and then go see Riddick in the theaters - my favorite Vin Diesel character. Tomorrow afternoon my gaming buddy will finally be around, and I will be getting back to Cabela's African Safari and Oblivion. Gonna rock a brew for that. Oh yeah!

Hope you have fun with the game. I never played any of the Spiderman series games. But if they are anything like the Batman games then your in for a treat.

Treyarch also did Ultimate Spider-Man I just found out! It's the only Spider-Man game I've played and I really liked it. That's five Spider-Man games by Treyarch which all got decent reviews if not up to Batman: Arkham Asylum standards. I think I'm gonna like this.

If you want Arkham City type gameplay, the game for movie reboot, The Amazing Spider-Man is fantastic. It's a bit bland but the combat and swinging around is solid. Plus, there's a dlc, which I got free because I preordered it, that lets you play as Stan Lee. Zork is definitely a interesting game to listen to. It's actually free on the App Store in a collection of old infocom text based games. I've been having so much fun with it just trying out random combinations of actions (I.E. hit leaves with sword) and seeing if anything would happen.

Playing at Stan Lee would be cool.

After the pod I had to do some research on Infocom games and add them to my list to play. Boy, there's a bunch of them I can't wait to play.

I played Spider-Man 1 and 2 on the GameCube, which were both good (first one was level-based and the second introduced an open world) and my younger brother raves about Ultimate Spider-Man, but I have not heard good things about that third movie tie-in. Granted, I haven't played it but I hope it's at least good for achievements for you. For current-gen Spidey I'd feel safer going with Beenox's two games, Shattered Dimensions and Edge of Time.

It looks like Beenox started doing certain ports of the Treyarch Spider-Man games before they were given the reigns to do it all. I guess Treyarch is too busy with COD now, but it looks like Beenox knows what they're doing. I want to try their games too.

Yeah, I think Treyarch is only CoD now. Looks like (according to Wikipedia) that the last time they did something else was 2008.

Never played 3, but Iliked 1 and 2, and the one based on the cartoon that came before those for N64/Playstation.

Maximum Carnage on the SNES was apparently pretty good too. It had Spider-Man, Venom and Carnage.

Yeah, I remember that one fondly; it was a beat-em-up involving lots of roller bladers, cause it was the 90s.

Not a bad game! Terrible movie...

I didn't dislike the movie, but then again it wasn't very memorable either.

This blog reminds me that I need to go back and finish The Amazing Spiderman on 360 sometime. Great game.

That was Beenox's third Spider-Man game. I remember it looked pretty good in trailers.
