Got Me a Vita!

That comparison shot of the Vita screen and the upcoming Slim Vita screen was enough to push me over the edge. I have to have that lush color of the OLED screen in the original Vita. I went to Walmart and they were out of them, so I went to my local Gamestop and got their last one. I had a choice (all the same price of $199) of the 3G/Wi-Fi one with a year of PSPlus, a 3G/Wi-Fi Walking Dead Edition, or the plain Wi-Fi Vita with no extras. I'm not all that keen on the Walking Dead stuff, so I went with the one with a year of Plus. I also didn't much care for the 3G feature, but it still has Wi-Fi, which is what I will use.

I didn't get a larger memory card yet because I've already got a lot of money to make up, but everyone says I should pick up the 32 GB one eventually. I have two games already: Dragon's Crown and Muramasa Rebirth, but I want to get New Little King's Story, Sumioni: Demon Arts, and Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention.

Tomorrow I go preorder the Zelda: Wind Waker edition Wii-U. It's finally time to catch up with new hardware. I'm not getting a PS4 or Xbox One on day one, so I'll have a while to make up all this spending. I can't wait to play Wind Waker, and Pikmin 3.

Nice. The only bundle that was available when I bought one (back in December, pre-Christmas week) was the Call of Duty/Wi-Fi bundle. I sold the horrible COD game but the system itself is wonderful and I don't regret the purchase. I use it everyday.

Ha, me too. Bought the COD bundle because it was cheaper than a core unit, the game turned out to be terrible, and I got $20+ from GameStop for it.

It's pathetic. That game still retails at Walmart for $40. Why, why, why?

Yea, I looked up Disgaea for Vita the other day. It came out April of 2012 and it's still $40 new and $35 used. What gives?

I don't want to discourage you too much, but Sumioni wasn't too great. If you're at all interested, check out my review here. New Little King's Story on the other hand, is fantastic despite being flawed.

Read your review. It's too bad it's repetitive like that. I can't resist that art style though and will probably get it anyway.

I will take whatever bundle I can find.  In reality, I would probably prefer finding one of the COD ones because I should be able to get some credit back for that game.  I do not really care about Walking Dead because I already have a copy that I do not play or the PS+ one because I do not really want to have PS+, even if it is a great deal.

I'm glad to have Plus now, but it still bothers me that any free game is only yours as long as you maintain your membership. It's more like a rental. I'm not complaining too much though.

If you think of it along the lines of a rental, then you are spending less than $1 per week to rent these games.  That seems like a far better deal than anywhere else I know of.

Cool.  Have fun.  If I had the funds and wasn't a cheap bastard, I'd pick up one myself. Laughing

I resisted as long as I could stand it. Then I had to get one. The quality of the screen is very important to me, and I don't want to have to scrounge latter to find this first version.

Awesome! If you have PS+, I highly recommend Gravity Rush if you can spare the memory (Edit: I see from looking at your photo that you get a year free PS+ which is great)

Oh and let us know what you think of Dragons Crown and Muramasa. I'm trying to decide which one I want to pick up Smile

I already had Muramasa on the Wii, but I thought it would be the perfect game for a handheld and especially the Vita with it's amazingly sharp screen. In my mind, I will probably play Dragon's Crown first though because it's new to me. Everyone's been raving about how good it is.

Yeah i've been hot and cold about whether to buy Dragons Crown or not. I'll definitely go Vita over PS3 though if I do. I hear some control aspects work better on the Vita

Awesome stuff, and welcome to the club! If you are going to want a lot of games on your system, 32GB is perfect. I'm happy with 8GB, but I'll probably upgrade to 32 at some point too.

Try out the free to play games. Some can be a lot of fun. Enjoy your new handheld!

Thanks, I will. I'm torn right now though 'cause I'm deep into Valkyria Chronicles II on PSP and can't pull myself away from it yet. Soon though.

The system has a 4GB card which will probably fill up fast. Especially with all that free stuff that comes with Plus.

The choice between an OLED and LED would be the turning point in deciding the time to get a Vita. I'm still not sure myself given the inconsistant load times between applications. Plus I'm still giving love to my PSP and all the uber cheap games offered on there. Oddly it's physical games getting the sales and not the digital ones off PSN.

Have fun!

Actually, I'm kinda obsessed with Valkyria Chronicles II on PSP right now, so my new Vita is going to sit until I'm done with it.

Unfortunely, most of the Gamestops in my area have gotten rid of their PSP games. So my only option is online purchases and one retro game store. I think I have a lot of the games I want to play on the PSP right now though.

Got me a Vita as well...  of course I made the mistake of unpacking it this morning.

It was your posting of the comparison pic that pushed me to get one.

I opening the box but didn't set it up yet. I have until February to use my PSPlus code but I'll probably set it up real soon. I got so much good gaming going on right now. I'm up to my eyeballs.
