As usual, I'm getting carried away with purchases so I decided to wait to get a Wii-U 'til probably Christmas, which will be a neat thing to do Christmas day anyway. I cancelled my Wii-U preorder, preordered Wolfenstein: New Order on 360 ('cause part of my credit had to go to another new preorder), and got Halo Anniversary [360], Namco Museum Remix [Wii], and Atari Greatest Hits Vol. 1 and 2 [DS]. I really wanted Retro Atari Classics, and Namco Museum for DS but these were all they had. I wanted a few PSP games too, but this particular store doesn't have them anymore. There are a few stores in my area that I know have PSP games though, so maybe tomorrow I'll go find them before they too get rid of them.

Halo Anniversary I've owned before and traded in for some reason. I'd like to go back and run through it for achievements.

Namco Museum Remix has various reimaginings of classic arcade games and straight ports. I found out from Cary's review here: http://www.gamerdad.com/blog/2007/11/11/welcome-to-the-namco-museum/ that Xevious is not remixed on this which is disappointing, but I'll try out everything on it anyway.

Atari Greatest Hits Vol. 1, 2 are full of straight emulations of arcade and console games. I was looking for the earlier Retro Atari Classics game which is remixed versions, but I decided to go for these too so I could have Lunar Lander on the go in Vol. 1 and Breakout/Super Breakout and Adventure on Vol. 2. I wondered over the absence of Stampede and then realized it was an Activision game, and those have their own collection on last gen consoles.

I had some trouble finding the list of games for each of these but Cary's reviews on GamerDad for Vol. 1 here: http://www.gamerdad.com/blog/2011/01/05/the-games-of-ataris-greatest-hits-vol-1-ds/ and Vol. 2 here: http://www.gamerdad.com/blog/2011/04/09/the-games-of-ataris-greatest-hits-volume-2-ds/ solved my problem. Thanks Cary!

I like it when companies released these Greatest Hits games. Lots of flashbacks, and fun. I bought the Atari pack on the iPad a while ago when the entire set of something like 100 games for $5. Good stuff.

I'd like to try some of these remixed versions too. That was a thing for a year or so.

I need to get some of these arcade games on my 360 I grew up playing almost all of these and like Carey I was a huge pac man fan and I also lived Star Gate and Defender etc hey and that was a great loot grab and by the way definitely think about getting GTA5 its probably the best game I have played to date yes thats a huge claim but trust me on this!!

GTA V is getting like 98 on Metacritic right now. Clearly a darling of the journalists out there. I'm really intrigued by the open world and all the things you can do there. I never really was too interested in the stories from GTA though. Just not my thing. I'm not into organized crime and urban thuggery. I guess that's 'cause I live in the 'burbs. That being said, I want to fly a biplane all over San Andreas.

To be honest this time its more about high tech bank heist and its so meticulous as you have to case a jewelry store in one heist then check the ventilation system on the roof security cameras etc which you take pics of with a pair of glasses with a camera and the you have to hire a crew driver, muscle, hacker etc it really give you a sense of doing something big.

I love hearing about GTA games and what people do in them.

Halo Anniversary is a great remake. The first holds up really well today and I love switching between the original and remade graphics.

I played it on the day it came out but traded it in later for some reason. I want to get in deep with it this time and do everything there is to do.

Spiffy graphics and Skulls and Terminals. Otherwise it's the same old Halo: CE. It's always good though.

Glad to help! There's another Namco Museum game on the Wii called Namco Museum Megamix.  It's basically the same game, but with one new 3-D update (Pac-Grobda), and a different set of classic games to play.

Cool. Dig Dug II interests me. I may have to pick it up.

I always intend to buy those sorts of collection but never actually do Undecided I suppose I do have a couple...*quick backloggery check*...Taito Legends 1 and 2 for the PS2, specifically.

Oh, and Capcom Classics Collection Remixed for PSP. That one's great. I'd love to get the companion collection, Reloaded, too.

I have so many of the collections for consoles. Whenever a new one comes out, I'm all over it. Midway Arcade Origins surprised me by just appearing on the new release list one week last year. I ran out and got it right away. I've also been on top of any of the dowloadable collections on the consoles like Capcom Arcade Cabinet on XBLA/PSN that came out earlier this year.

Yea, I'm looking for those very PSP games right now. There's only a few Gamestops in my area that I know still have a PSP section. I'm trying to snatch them up before I have to look online.

I really love Halo. I wonder how the remake is different from the original.

HD graphics and the ability to see the original graphics too on the fly, coop and multiplayer online modes added, achievements, skulls to collect that unlock tweaks to the gameplay just like Halo Reach, 3D if you have the TV for it, hidden video terminals that tell you more about the story, Kinect support where you can scan things and get more information about them, revamped multiplayer maps from Halo 1 and 2, and a new Firefight map.

In listing these I forgot how cool the Kinect support was. I might have to get that darn thing now.

the remake was excellently made. I'm still in awe on how much the original and the new one stand side by side. I never realized it myself. Still loads of fun, I'm short 3 achievements to gettign them all, all of them consist of the library level *ugh*

I've played Anniversary when it came out, but I traded it. Now that I have it again, I want to go and do a thorough achievement run of it.
