Pixel Mosaic Summary

The original article for the pixel mosaics around North Texas has continued to collect sightings, and I think we'll keep putting them there as we go. I figured I'd summarize it all here in a fresh blog post for your (and my) convenience.

A current map of all the sighted works is below. The green one is where I think the Tri-Force art shown in the CBS news spot is located, but I haven't verified. I need to get down there and see and I'll fix it up then.

Here's a listing of all the pieces reported in so far. I'm just going to assign them a number so I can keep track. The numbers aren't based on location or name or anything. These are all the same pictures over from the comments on the article, and they are hotlinked. Pictures taken by other people are their property, not mine.

The comments under each piece are just notes I have taken over time. The time stamp data is normally based on using Google Street View and looking to see if an installation was present at the time the Google van drove through.

8		Tetrominoes: Multiple Ts, Artistic Not present in April 2012.
9		Galaga - Broken? Not present in April 2012.
10		Tetrominoes: T & L Not present in April 2012.
11		1up Mushroom Not present in April 2012.
12		Link Not present in April 2012.
13		Tetrominoes: 2 Zs Not present in May 2012.
14		Tetrominoes: Four Pieces on Two Squares Not present in April 2012.
15		3 Tetrominoes Present in June 2013!
16		Creeper over the Creek Not present in March 2012.
17		Tetrominoes: 3 Big Ts Present in November 2012! Not present in April 2012.
18		Tetrominoes: 3 Squares Present in November 2012.
19		Heart Containers Appeared in approximately November of 2013
20		Power-Up Mushroom Likely appeared in November 2013. Notable "F ART" stenciled spray paint graffiti on light post next to it.
21		Pokeball Next to Lee's Grilled Cheese that has commissioned a large mural.
22	[NO PICTURE YET]	Tri-Force? Think this might be the location of a Tri-Force design shown on CBS News.

Keep adding new finds over on the main article and I'll try to summarize them here too.

Wow there are a lot of these mosaics around your area. I do like how they are placed in random spots, and kinda interesting to see what characters they do next. I do like Matt R's dragon

I'm glad you made a new post. I meant to check back at the old one to see if there were any new sightings but never remembered to. This is so cool!

I wonder if there was anyone living their filing a protest over those things considering them like those "unslightly" advert signs you see dot the lightpoles.

I need to look up to see if there is a news report on this. Kinda left that on the back burner.

When it says "Not Present until (X)" what do you mean? Like it didn't show up until a certain month or it showed up on a certain month?

That normally means that it wasn't present when Google took a streetview picture of that location. The date comes from the streetview time stamp. I just left the info there in case it becomes useful later.

Thanks for stopping by! Let us/me know if you find any more mosaics or if you know any of the artists. I've spoken to two of the people/groups doing these and there's at least one more artist out there.

Thank you! I basically drive past single one of these mosiacs about once a week, so if they keep within the area I will let you know if I see any new ones!
