Because I refuse to succumb to the temptation of cat gifs, here's a Sonic blog:

Sonic the Hedgehog 4, Episode 1, first impressions:

Wherever I have time or energy to play on Steam, this is one of the games i've been playing.

To get it out of the way, the normal movement is weird. I mean, it feels like a moving a chunk of rock that has legs and can jump, and it's also infortunate by the act that makes the character walk slowly, which can screw you up when a pillar crushes you. I also have problem with some cheap enemy placement that it's just there to make you lose rings, coupled with the spikes, crushing pillars and other assorted obstacles.

That said, once you pick up enough speed, the movement gets better. It's not the fastest Sonic game, but it's fast enough to be one, I like some of the level designs (cheap difficulty aside), the control works very well and I liked the adition of the homing attack here. It seems to become very short from what I see, but since I got this game on the Summer Sale of 2013 at a cheap price, I don't have much to complain. My favorite level so far it's the second stage of that carnaval zone, even with the cheap obstacles at the last parts.

Speaking of Sonic....

About Sonic Boom so far and some thoughts on modern Sonic as a whole:

I just saw recently the announcement of the new Sonic game which will go alongside the cartoon they are also producing. Without watching the trailer yet, I guess I could talk about the new designs and something I had commented early on Vice's Assistant and Nick blogs about this recent news.

First of all: Holy chili dogs Knuckles! What the hell happened to your torso? Maybe you are a fan of Chris Redfield, but why did you have to get inspired by ham chested Resident Evil 5 Chris? Yeah, Knuckles design surprised me for the wrong reasons. I can get used to it, but look at it! But other than that, I don't mind the other designs. I quite like bandana Sonic.

Now, just like i've commented in the mentioned blogs, I seem to think that while Sonic is alive, he seems to be living in a limbo of opinion.

To explain it better, Sonic is a touchy subject on the internet. Ever since Sonic Adventure was released, fans and videogamers alike had been with split opinions on the quality of Sonic games ever since (especially the modern games). When it comes to anything made after Sonic 4, even with the good reception Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations had, some opinions still vary. Some fans think Sonic is finally alive and kicking, while others think he might as well be dead. It's a chaos. As for me, I haven't played Generations and Lost World, but I have Sonic Colors and I really love it and it's among my favorite Wii games, and probably favorite 3D Sonic so far, so I'm still not giving up on the franchise.

As for the effect Sonic Boom will have on the franchise once it gets to stores everywhere, I can only say echo what Marge Simpson said on the parody of The Shining were Homer was becoming crazy: "We'll just have to sit and wait"

That's all for today.

Just like Chris Redfield in RE 5 man.

Knuckles is older than Sonic, I always did notice he was slightly taller but they overdid it. Maybe he worked out alot, or he ate the Master Emerald. Not sure how the game will be, but it looks good from the gameplay. Sonic Generations is on sale on Steam sometimes, It's worth a look.

Haven't seen the trailer for Sonic Boom yet. I also plan to get Generations on Steam together with the Adventure games, though I will wait till I get 360 controler since i've heard that's the better option to play the 3D games on pc.

Knuckles ate some spinach!  Oh well, at least Tails is in it.

He ate WAY to much spinach.

I've come to realize that the Internet's opinion about something doesn't always account for as much as the Internet's ego likes to think it does; Sonic is still selling well enough for them to make all these reboots, obviously.

I think of the Internet as a HAL 3000 model, comprised of living nerds; so also a bit like the Borg from Star Trek, although I have no idea what the Borg from Star Trek is, given my limited knowledge. Where am I?

Yeah, the internet opinion is a bit of a minority, but a really vocal one. Still, it's very much incescapable to encounter those kinds of nerds when going to the internet.

Que me has llamado?! Tongue Out

I think Google may have conjugated that as what did I call myself, but I meant to say what did you call me ...

Huh?

You said Internet people were nerds and I wanted to say "what did you call me?!" in Spanish, but wasn't sure if Google translate translated that sentence correctly.

Alex-C25

Well, your spanish there was correct. I think, it was the context I didn't understand.

Yeah, I can be hard to understand in either language when I'm tired. Really, just in general, but I like using excuses.

I wouldn't worry too much. How bad could Sonic Boom be? Although.... judging from Knuckles' new design, I'd say really bad lol. I'm so out of touch with modern Sonic.

Nah, modern Sonic ain't bad, and even with my exagerations, I can get used to ham chested Knuckles. It's too early to judge Sonic Boom when we only know the designs and a single trailer.

All I'm going to say is if SB Knuckles acts like one from Egoraptor's Sonic Awesome, then I give up.

Haven't seen Egoraptor's Sonic Awesome series, though given how much he has stated to be a hater of the Sonic franchise, I can only imagine the exagerated portrayal he did for the videos.

I'm with you on the meaty Knuckles design. Sheesh! And it's hard of for me to get excited for a new Sonic game when there are two out there already that I'm sure I'd enjoy (Generations and Lost World, that is). Still, I'm very interested to see how it turns out.

Alex-C25

Yeah, it was a shock when I saw him. I can get used to it though.

I need to get back into Sonic. I kinda fell out of it after the DC era. Also playing the earlier Wii Sonic titles didn't help much. But after trying the demo of Sonic Worlds (I think) it might be interesting to see what has become of sonic since Colors and Generations. Worlds wasn't nowhere near fast and kept reminding me of Mario Galaxy.

Not sure about this new sonic but I'mw ith yo on Sonic 4. I'm waiting for it to go on sale before I sink money into it.

Lost World isn't really similar to Colors and Generarions. The last two are more focused on speed with some plataforming on it while Lost World is more plataforming. Yeah, it's better to be cautious when playing The Secret Rings and The Black Knights. They aren't very well regarded and if I have to say something frank, The Secret Rings is a piece of turd. Colors is the better intro to Modern Sonic.
