I remember when demonic stories used to scare the shit out of me, now no longer believing them, they're just meh. And yeah, Aristotle's Golden Mean is often more convincing than more black and white philosophies.

I picked up Fuse 1, Star Wars 14, EGOs 1. In my excited mind, I worried that Fuse would be sold out. I mean, if I’m excited for it, everyone else must be too. Right? No. There were plenty of copies.
I usually budget $10 for comics every week and that means three issues. I only had two, so I looked through the new stuff to see if I wanted to try anything new. Creepy was interesting but my eye was really caught by the cover of EGOs #2 (see pic above), a very interesting sci/fi image. I decided to give this series a chance and went and found the first issue. EGOs, meaning Earth/Galactic Operatives, is about an elite team of far-future protectors of the galaxy. They have been disbanded but a new threat has arisen and their leader Deuce must gather a new team to fight Masse, The Living Galaxy. I’m not familiar with writer Stuart Moore or artist Gus Storms but this stuff seems right up my alley.
I got Behemoth’s new album “The Satanist” yesterday. It has a reflective cover so when you look at it, you see yourself. Who’s The Satanist? You are. Ha ha. I discovered while reading the text for each song that the reflective cover is not the real cover, but temporary one. The real cover is this:
A bouquet of scary
The text for each song is full of literary and philosophical references and discusses the creative spirit of the artist as opposed to societal and religious rules; that one needs free reign to swing from principles of order and chaos to achieve enlightenment. I don’t think you need to justify delving into the profane for your art when there’s no oppressive religious doctrine telling you otherwise. I wonder if Nergal’s life was strongly impinged upon by a strict religion [it was, I just looked it up]. Furthermore, I find dualities, like good vs. evil, order vs. chaos, talked about in religions and many philosophies to be gross over simplifications that make conversation easier, but don’t describe the real world very well; it gets very abstract very quickly talking like that. I kinda wish Nergal (Adam Darski, primary writer of the lyrics and music of Behemoth) would just try and scare me instead of professing an affinity with Satan as the demon of the tortured artist’s soul. I’m not scared by Satan or contrariness to any particular religion. But all this is neither here nor there because I came to Behemoth for their sound and not their words, which are unintelligible sung in such a guttural voice anyway. And, if I could, I would replace all the album art with stuff from Demon’s Souls, because this music is the proper soundtrack for that game.
"I'm down to my last squirt!"
I preordered EDF 2025 yesterday. I had a blast with EDF 2017 back in ’07 playing split screen co-op with my friend Mark. I picked up its sequel, EDF Insect Armageddon, all excited because it had online co-op, but I still haven’t had time to play it. I found out that Sandlot developed 2017 and 2025 and Vicious Cycle Software did Insect Armageddon. Vicious Cycle is a company based in North Carolina of the U.S. who did Dead Head Fred on PSP, an underrated game I played on rental once, and Eat Led: The Return of Matt Hazard, which is a FPS I watched my friend play and whose comedy was pretty good. Matt Hazard’s line when he’s almost out of amo is “down to my last squirt” which has become a permanently repeated line at gaming sessions. I’m going to push hard to play EDF 2025 right after I’m done with Borderlands 2… that and Dead Island.
