It's never that simple...
Keeping up with the theme of favorite super hero shows, I thought I'd write an entry on my favorite licensed games. Licensed games are a mixed bag, alot of them aren't good but there are a handful that show that licensed games can be great, under capable hands. I'm only listing games I've played that I had played from start to finish. But before we begin, here are some licensed blogs you should check out:

And now, here are my favorite licensed games:
Captain America: Super Soldier: I'm a fan of Captain America, he's my most favorite Marvel Super Hero. I heard there was going to be a game based on the movie but I saw the trailer first. I loved the trailer for the game and it made it seemed awesome. I got the game, it wasn't bad to be honest, but it definitely wasn't the best thing ever. It's actually quite enjoyable and it's probably the most playable out of all the licensed games Sega made at the time.
Ghostbusters: The Game: When there's something strange, in the neighborhood, who ya gonna call? Well I anwsered the call to this game. I heard it was good so I said why not? I actually enjoyed it, it was pretty fun. It might get a bit repetitive but this is as close we'll get to Ghostbusters 3. Plus it's certainly better than the older Ghostbusters games.
Back to the Future: The Game: I love these movie, all 3 of them, infact I have a hard time deciding which is my favorite one. The game is really good for a point and click game, but the game has alot of humor and it's really well written. It has that sort of tone the movies had, heck this could be infact BttF4, or as close we'll get to one.
Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Melee: The King of the Monsters has alot of movies, I don't know how much but he has alot. He's also no stranger to games. Though they weren't as good as the movies. However that all changed with Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Melee. It was originally a Gamecube exclusive but it also came out on the Xbox with improved graphics and an extra character. My little brother got a GCN copy of it this past christmas and we both played it, and it's actually fun. You can pick Godzilla or any available monster and fight other monsters in fully destroyable cities. It's like a fighting game but it's a fun one. There are also more Godzilla games that came out after this one, but haven't tried them. This one is worth checking out.
Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tekaichi 3: I used to be a huge fan of this series when I was a kid, I still am a fan but not as big as a fan than I was as a kid. I haven't tried too many DBZ games, I've only tried 3 but from all those I tried, DBZ Budokai Tekaichi 3 is my most favorite. It has 150 playable characters spanning from Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and Dragon Ball GT. The graphics look pretty good for a Wii game, it looks cel-shaded but the characters themselves look like they were taken fom the show. It also supports many controller set ups but I'm more confortable with the Wiimote and Nunchuk set up. It also sports many different modes and the ability to customize the abilities of any character you want. It's one of my favorite fighting games on the Wii.
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: This game has an interesting story of how I bought it. It was a few days before my family and I moved to our current house, we went to Target to take a break and there I saw it, the last copy of the game. My dad told me not to spend any money on stuff since we were moving, my brother told me it's the last copy and I wouldn't see it ever again if I didn't. So I bought it, it was on sale for 30 bucks. My dad did get a bit angry for that but years later the game became rare since Capcom lost the rights to the characters, it's also one of the few games that escaped Capcom's dlc model. The game itself plays like a Marvel vs. Capcom game, but instead of Marvel characters you have anime characters. Alot of these characters are obscure except the G-Force/Battle of the Planets guys. It's a fun game, if you can find it, get it. Also, the voices for the characters are in japanese though.
Marvel vs. Capcom games: Probably the most favorite crossover fighting game series of all. I remember playing these games in an arcade cabinet on my local video renting place. Though I wasn't good at it. I got these games thanks to the PS3. I got Marvel vs, Capcom 2 on sale, and won Marvel vs. Capcom Origins as a prize during a contest at 1up, my poster was stolen sadly. I borrowed Marvel vs. Capcom 3 from my neighbor and thought it was fun. I did buy the Ultimate version because of the debacle of Capcom losing rights to the chatacters or something last year. It's a fun game, me and my bros have fun with it, granted I lose often since I'm not really good at it.
Injustice: Another great fighting game that came out last year, though I only got it to play with my friends online. The game is really fun, it stars the greats from the DC Universe, though a bit heavy on the Batman characters. It has plenty of modes and a story mode that actually is like an episode of the Justice League and it's really good, especially with the performance of great voice actors like Kevin Conroy. Sure I feel silly for paying full price at launch when there's a version with all the dlc but I had fun.
Spider-man Shattered Dimensions: Before you ask, no I haven't played Spider-man 2, otherwise it would be here on this spot. My little brother got this game on the Wii and I got to try it and it was pretty fun. I loved it so much that I knew how to speedrun alot of the levels, like the Noire ones. I then got it on the PS3 and I still liked it. You play as four different Spider-men from different dimensions or comic universe or whatever and each have their own special abilities and levels based on their dimension. My favorite levels were the Spider-man Noire ones because like it's namesake, it was set in that era and you had to rely on stealth. It also used this pretty cool artstyle that made it look like it was in black-and-white. Every Spider-man had their own artstyle. It could be my most favorite Spider-man game, till I try Spider-man 2.
Transformers War for/Fall of Cybertron: It's no mystery that I love Transformers and I guess the franchise has done pretty well despite being a toyline at it's start. The games however were not so good from what I read. The only good Transformers games out there were the movie ones from the Bayverse and I'm using the term good losely. The Highmoon Studios games are probably the best Transformers games ever made, minus Dark of the Moon of course. The games were made by Transformers fans for Transformers fans. I really like the games, I have a blast with them. I can't wait for Transfomers: Rise of the Dark Spark, which was leaked.
Star Wars Rogue Squadron ll: This is my most favorite Star Wars game from all the ones I've played. This was a Gamecube launch title and it looked really amazing for it's time, heck I played it again not so long ago and it still looks incredible. You play as a Rebel pilot and pilot various spaceships from the movies and go on missions from the movies most memorable moments. Heck the first mission starts you off at the Death Star. How is that for an opening mission. It's a shame Factor 5 no longer exists, I would of loved to have played Rogue Squadron lV if it ever existed.
Batman Arkham Games: I think these games may be my most favorite licensed games ever. These games are just so awesome. I like Asylum most because it just felt like an episode of Batman TAS to me. I love everything about that game, the combat, the riddles, the puzzles, the great voice acting that brought that game alive, and well everything. I liked Arkham City and I'll admit it had better boss fights, like that damn good Mister Freeze fight but I kinda felt it lost focus, maybe I just like the claustrophobic feel of the Asylum than the openess of Arkham City. It felt much more linear, I mean it never felt too big, but never felt too small, it felt just right. Like I said, I love them both, but I give Asylum more edge here for the reasons I listed. But aleast Arkham City is better than Origin's.
Do you have any favorite licensed games? Thanks for reading and later.
