I hadn't even heard of most of these, I'm guessing they weren't released in theaters though. My favorite animated superhero movies are The Incredibles and Batman: Mask of the Phantasm

World's Finest...
A while back I wrote about my favorite super hero shows and loved the responses everyone gave me. Today I'll talk about my favorite animated super hero movies. When not fighting on the big silver screen, you can find your favorite super heroes fighting on the smaller screen saving the world. I've seen plenty over the years and while I've seen alot, I'm only going to list my most favorite ones. But before we save the world, here are some blogs to prepare yourself:
KnightDriver shows us Scarlett's Pirate Booty
Vice's Assistant changes his plans
And now that you're ready, here's my favorite animated super hero movies:
Dr. Strange: The Sorcerer Supreme: To be honest I never knew alot about Dr. Strange, I do remember him from the 90's Spider-man cartoon and that's about it. I did hear of him again in Spider-man Shattered Dimensions from Deadpool's hilarious commentary in infomercial form, which as "strange" as it sounds. I saw the animated feature on Netflix and thought it was pretty cool. It basically shows his origins and how he went from being an egotistical neurosurgeon to Sorcerer Supreme. and his battle with magical and mystical threats which are actually connected to his past. If you don't know much about him, give the animated short a go.
Hulk vs.: Hulk vs. is an animated movie based on the Hulk himself where he squares off against other heroes of the Marvel Universe like Thor and Wolverine, not at the same time though. He first faces off Thor in Asgard and you might be wondering what in the world is Hulk doing in Asgard? I'd tell you but I'll spoil that part of the plot. It's like 2 episodes actually as the next one he goes against Wolverine. It starts with Wolverine tracking down the Hulk but both of them will get more than what they bargained for when they meet some familiar faces from Wolverine's past. Both of the episodes are pretty good in their own right, and you can watch it on netflix if you're curious.
Planet Hulk: This one is actually a very interesting movie. It's about the Hulk basically, but some of Marvels heroes actually launch Hulk into space because the Hulk has become too dangerous to keep on Earth. This whole movie is about Hulk landing on a new planet and not only about him fighting to survive, but about the survival of other race of aliens forced into gladitorial combat for entertainment of an evil ruler. There's some pretty sad moments and some pretty good moments with the Hulk showing that he isn't as bad as he looks, but really just misunderstood but willing to fight against evil.
Superman/Batman: Public Enemies: What if Lex Luthor became president of the United States? Ever wanted to know? Now you can in this animated film. It's starts with the economy going down the toilet but it starts to rise when Luthor is elected as the President. He then hires super heroes that work for the government or for him. Though Superman and Batman don't trust Lex, or his motives, especially when a kryptonite meteor is heading straight towards Earth. Alot of heroes and villains from the DC Universe make an appearance here and theres plenty of action.
Superman/Batman: Apocalypse: This is sort of a sequel to the Public Enemies movie, and as it's title says, it's about Superman and Batman, but Wonder Woman is also a prominent character in the movie which makes you wonder why she was left out of the title. Anyway the movie is about Supergirl landing on Earth and Superman discovers that she is her cousin. Superman, or rather Clark helps her adjust to Earth life, but Darkseid learns of her presence on Earth and wants to capture her. A really good movie, it's worth a watch.
Ultimate Avengers Series: There's actually 3 movies in this series but I grouped them all into a single entry. Before being a mega-hit worldwide, the Avengers starred in the small screen as the Ultimate Avengers. The first film starts in WWll with Captain America being deployed to fight Nazi's or Hydra (I forget) in order to help the good guys tip the battle in their favor. Cap discovers that the enemy has been working with aliens to make super advanced weaponry. They launch a missile and Cap sacrifices himself. Decades later S.H.I.E.L.D. finds Cap frozen in a glacier. The film then involves Nick Fury trying to form a team of heroes known as the Avengers, but isn't as easy as it seems, especially when alot of them don't like working together. It also focuses alot on Cap with him dealing with the fact everyone he knew is gone and that he must adjust to his new surroundings.
The second part, called Ultimate Avengers takes place after the first with T'Challa coming back to his home of Wakanda on to find it under attack by the same Chitauri alien Cap fought in WW ll. T'Challa then assumes the mantle of the Black Panther to seek Captain America and Nick Fury. I wouldn't say it was better than the first one, but it's still a pretty good movie to watch.
The final movie called the Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow. I'm not exactly sure if it takes place after the Ultimate Avengers Movies but I'll just group it with these. It takes place in the future with the Avengers going against Ultron but each one falls against him. Before Captain America dies, he instructs Iron Man to take the children of the Avengers and hide them from Ultron. It's a pretty good movie, it's not as good as Ultimate Avengers 1 but it is work a watch.
All-Star Superman: What would a world without Superman be like? Based on the comic series of the same name, it's about a space mission to explore the sun led by Leo Quintim. But Lex Luthor being the evil genius he is sabotages the mission which prompts Superman to save the day. Superman gets too close to the sun and after a series of test done by Leo Quintum, Superman's powers have increased greatly, but he's dying slowly in the process because he absorbed too much radiation from the sun. It's a really good movie with some interesting moments and interesting character interaction between Lex and Clark.
Justice League Doom: I think this may be my favorite of the bunch which deals with Vandal Savage wanting to wipe out half of earths population to start a new civilization. But in order to do that, he must take the Justice League out of the equation, but to that he steals Batman's Contingency plan to take down the Justice League should they turn on the world. The movie is pretty good, it features the most prominent members of the Justice League and the ways Batman has planned to take down each member. Batman must now face the fruits of his labor and questions the League's trustworthiness for Batman. It's a really good movie.
I haven't watched every single one out there, but enjoyed the ones I've watched. And there will be another list naming my favorite super hero movies of all time. Have you seen any? If so which are your favorites? Thanks for reading and later.
