Bad T-Rex! Bad! Leave my Chick-fil-A sandwich alone!

Yes, I bought Turok: Evolution for original Xbox today at the only retro game shop in my area, Jay St. Video Games. Thankfully the store is now fully stocked and has just about anything you could want. It took me two minutes to find the game on the shelf, judge whether it had the booklet inside by feeling its weight, and take it to the register.

Tal'Set (who will become Turok) rides this pterosaur in this game. Cool!

A friend of mine at work was telling me about the segments where you fly on a pterosaur saying it was pretty good. I remember playing the demo for this game way back when it came out in 2002 and getting mauled by a bunch of velociraptors. I think I was playing it way too run-and-gun when I should have played it more sneak-and-snipe.

I'm getting excited thinking about all the dinosaurs in this game. Maybe there will be a Brontosaurus or a Stegosaurus! Oh my dino nerdiness is in high gear thinking about this.

Yeah that dinosaur looks like he's about to eat that hamburger.

A new dinosaur games comes out at the end of this week, but it's kind of the opposite of Turok.  Yoshi's New Island!  Yay!

I first saw Yoshis in Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga on DS. So adorable.

I remember playing the Gamecube version I think at a Gamestop kiosk and finding it ugly and boring, later seeing it torn apart by video game industry critic velociraptors, which was a shame, because I always want more games with dinosaurs.

Apparently, the game had mixed or positive reviews, with scores in the 6-7 range according to Wikipedia, so it must be I was remembering the fact Electronic Gaming Monthly gave bad games the Tobias Bruckner award based on the villain in Evolution

I remember bad reviews too. Another reason I didn't continue playing it back then. Remember that game BC? It was cancelled but it took place in a prehistoric time full of dinos. I wanted to play that.

Very vaguely, but I think I do remember it, yeah.

I haven't liked a Turok game since the first two. I loved those games though.

I also played those first few Turok games and liked them. I also liked the demo for Turok from 2008 on Xbox 360. I haven't played the full game though.

Turok is cool and all, but I want that chicken sandwich.

Unfortunately I found out the hard way that you shouldn't say no to a T-Rex. I lost the sandwich, an arm, a leg and got a punctured lung. I was pretty lucky all things considered.

I remember seeing that game.  I never got to play it.  Let us know if you enjoy it.  I may pick up copy myself.

Ah, Acclaim. Haven't seen that name in a long time. I always think of Extreme G when I see that logo.

My only experience with Turok was playing the original at a friend's house with a bunch of cheat codes on. There's one point where you go in a cave and see tons of bodies hanging from the ceiling before you fight a big T-rex. But the codes to give them big heads and make them dance kind of ruined the scary atmosphere lol.

I really loved the N64 Turok games, but going back to them now, their bland environments are really hard to like. Someone needs to go and spruce them up like I heard was done with Duke Nukem 3D recently.

I haven't played a dino game that didn't involve Yoshi in some way or another.

I really want to check out a Yoshi game sometime. I'm putting Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island on my wishlist.

I remember playing that game! I remember really enjoying it, although I never beat it because I didn't own it. Just the whole concept of playing a dinsouar hunter was awesome. it looks like ass now, but I remember it looking some awesome then. I never owned a N64, so I hadn't played the originals.

I remember it looking really good back in '02. I guess I'm gauranteed to be disappointed on that front playing it today.

This is a game I regret trading in. I never got to finish it, and it was one of the first PS2 games I bought.

I got it for $4. So it's cheap to pick up again.

Turok Evolution for original Xbox, and I believe I am probably a fool for going back to it, but that's the power of word of mouth. One friend of mine liked it, so why shouldn't I.
