Spartans and Salarians, Oh My

I got two game related comics, Mass Effect: Foundation #9 and Halo: Escalation #4, that I read while eating a vegetarian buritto at Vge Cafe today (I couldn't resize that image above at the library I'm at, so it will probably load slowly. Sorry about that.).

The Mass Effect one is about a Salarian special ops team sent to the Krogan homeworld to set up an experiment in germ warfare (those two races are mortal enemies). Things go predictably sideways and lead scientist Mordin comes face to face with a Krogan female who plants a seed of doubt in his mission.

The Halo one is about the aftermath of the meeting with Brute and Elite diplomats that was broken up by a rebel group wanting to renew the Covenant. The Infinity responds to a distress signal from the freighter Pilgrim’s Pride and sends a team of Spartans to secure it (There is a two-page spread of space-soaring Spartans that would make a great poster). There are complications however and the Spartans have to do what they do best. Commander Laskey and Spartan Naiya go to Escala III to meet up with an reporter friend of Laskey’s and ask her to help them with the investigation into who is the spy in the UNSC. There’s a deal to be made and it involves information about Master Chief. Whoopie! MC FTW!

Both of these comics were really good; although, I’m still confused about what the Pilgrim’s Pride meant to the main story in the Halo comic.

Other comics I got were The Massive #21, Umbral #5, and King Conan: The Conqueror #2. I thought this might be a slow week so I could try something new like the new Silver Surfer series, but no, I’ve got too much to buy this week to try anything new. Maybe next week.

I just picked up my Mass Effect issue only moments ago.  I still need to read #8.

These issues of Mass Effect seem to stand alone or in twos. The story jumps to different characters every few issues. This one starts a new story all together. I'm wondering now what the thread is that ties them all up. Is it Cerebus or is it The Illusive Man. I'm not sure.

It's about the little girl from the first issue, "Rasa".  She goes by multiple names during the series, but it's her.  She's in every issue.  She's also Maya Brooks in the Mass Effect 3: Citadel dlc.

I need to reread the series up 'til now. You kinda of lose the thread reading these issues that come out a month apart.

I have to check that out. I hope it's as out-there as the Doctor Strange comics I love.

I really like the look of the Silver Surfer, need to pick up some comics when I have the chance (and money).

The cover for the new one is rad.

and the halo saga continues to unfold. I wonder if this will lead to the foundation for what is to come with Halo 5.

It's been 343 approved so I think it will tie in nicely with the game. I'm thinking Halsey and Ma-dama team up to bring back the Covenant to fight the Humans. MC vs. his creator. Like the monster vs. Dr. Frankenstein. How cool would that be in the style of the old Hammer horror films!
