Man do I love these flyers for old arcade games.

The Ninja Kids is a Streets of Rage type game. I like this kind of game as long as I can keep the enemies from surrounding me, which is usually not the case. In addition to the side-scrolling action, you will play vertically scrolling segments where you climb the wall of a building and have to swipe at enemies at the windows (This makes me think of the game Rampage a little bit). Each of the four characters you can choose from have a different attack and a special move. I didn’t know about the special move in playing this but it’s crucial (Knowing about the special move is obvious if you are playing the arcade cabinet because it's just pushing both buttons at once, but on the Xbox controler it's easy to overlook it with all those buttons). You can play two player co-op as well, always a bonus in my book.

One nice feature is the music which is excellent throughout, a sort of lost classic I feel.

The opening music gets my blood pumping.

Here is a lengthier play of the game in someone's personal arcade.

What the heck is a Sega Blast City?

I’ll answer my own question. This review of the Sega Blast City has a really cool description of the cabinet and its features. It seems to be a very high quality cabinet that you can plug different boards into. What a good idea for people who don't have the space for dozens of giant arcade cabinets.

And this all happened in July 1999. Wow! And they call the villain The Satan? Damn. This was released in the U.S. with that villain name? That's great music, too. That's cool how you seem to be able to use the moon in the background as the werewolf's health meter in that first boss fight.

I'd love an arcade cabinet that works a bit like a console, too.

Ha! I didn't notice the moon being the werewolve's health meter. That's cool! There are a lot of pretty cool graphics in the game. I like how each character's special move is different and seems to change depending on what screen the character is on. That one guy sometime has whirlwinds surrounding him and sometimes they fill the screen to damage everything. I'll replay this sometime and really use these special moves.

Doesn't The NInja Kids also have a lot of crazy Engrish text in it, too?  Like "Here is a graveyard of you."

"Here is a graveyard of you" is the only major one I noticed as far as I played, but maybe there's more in later stages.

Can't believe I have not heard ot this game. I used to live for beat'um ups. It looks like it could be called Ninja Muppets to me.lol  Some of the baddies look like a cross between Animal and Beaker.

One of those ninja kids looks a lot like a grown up Ernie from Sesame Street.

Another interesting game I want to try. I'm surprised I haven't heard of this game.

It should be a TV show. I can even hear the opening song, "We're the Ninja Kids" sung to the tune that Bungie used for their podcast, "We're the Bungie Kids". I forget which TV show they lifted the tune from, but maybe Marty O'Donnel came up with it.

Damn, they've changed the name of their podcast. Gotta subscribe to it pronto.

"You will be servants of The Satan." Wow, wonder how many Satans there are in that game world that he had to specify that it was "The" Satan. The game looks pretty fun.

The one and only. Ninja kids got it covered though. Don't worry.

Oh man, I always wanted to play this one ever since I saw ScrewAttack's Videogame Vault video on this one. Another reason to get Taito Legends then.

I bet they had fun making jokes about it. There's plenty there to riff on. I used to listen to their podcast, but not recently.

Ah yes. The game also knowns as the "Sesame Street" brawler. those character designs I swear make me think of those puppets!

these reviews have tempted me in getting this game, both for the Xbox and PS2 given how they didn't release all the games on each console, but sadly there are nazis  that need to be akillin.....

Me too. One looks like Ernie all the way.

Phew, apparently they did not break up the games for the first collection, only for Taito Legends 2, which has four games not on PS2 that are on Xbox and visa versa.
