12:30pm: Ate a small pizza from my favorite Greek style (deep dish) pizza place, Real Pizza - mushroom and green pepper. Washed it down with a liter of diet coke. Booted up my Xbox 360 while I ate and looked at some video. Watched the COD: Advanced Warfare trailer on the IGN app. Everyone says it looks like Halo. I guess so, but just because the soldiers have some enhancements that let them jump far and have super strength doesn't make it Halo to me. I did see one character that reminded me of Marcus Fenix from Gears of War though.

Then I tried to find Major Nelson's video of him at the landfill where the ET cartridges were buried, but couldn't find it. It should've been on page one of the dashboard. What is Xbox Live doing?

Anyway, I went to Twitch to see what there was to watch. No Titanfall? What up with that? So I watched some Magic the Gathering with play-by-play. "What?!", you say. Yea, play-by-play announcing for a Magic the Gathering match. Revitting TV. I watched that and laughed for about five minutes. Then I was finished my pizza and started Child of Light.

2:16: I'm talking to the Jester after the first chapter in the game. I like the active time battle system. You can use your firefly side-kick Igniculus to slow down the enemies. This is key as you can set up a defense move to their attacks.

3:30: Break. Played B-17 Bomber on Intellivision Lives DS. Touch pad on the DS works great as the key pad from the original Intellivision controller. B-17 Bomber is a fun game.

4:20: Just talked to Finn in Chapter 4. New mission goal and a new member to my party.

There's crafting of gems in the game. I'm doing one of each three types of gems to make a rough diamond then combine three of those to make a tumbled diamond. This add 10% experience when attached to an item like your shield. I'm going to combine 3 tumbled diamonds to see what happens when I have them.

4:30:    Entering the well. Oops, time's up. Gotta go to work. Will be back at this game tomorrow.

I need to try deep dish (Chicago), but I'm a big fan of thin crust (NY) style. I go by the American cities these styles are associated with now. Tongue Out

NY style is my favorite, but Real does a really good deep dish. Greesy as heck, just the way I like it.

You!

I wound up buying Child of Light this morning. thank you very much for the suggestion. LOL

Resisting the urge to play it. I've been looking at the sorry state of my PS3 backlog and I'm coming up with a game plan to fix it.

Does that plan involve giving up eating and sleeping? Tongue Out

RadioRadar today talked about Child of Light saying it's pretty easy at first but gets much better in the second half. I've played 3 chapters and would say it's been pretty easy so far. Not that it's not fun. I'm really enjoying the battle system so far and can see it getting way more tricky in the later levels.

I'm workin' that backloggery, but I've a got a long way to go. I actually resisted buying some games on Gamestop's buy 2 get 1 free sale the other day, mainly because I am now very conscious of the size of my backlog.

Child of Light looks so good! Wish it had a retail release.

I can already tell by the size of the skill trees and number of collectibles that it's a short game. Let's see, what does howlongtobeat.com say. . . no times yet, but I've read that it's about a 12 hour game.

A 12-hour RPG sounds lovely Smile

I think I've logged 12 hours already and still have at least two more areas of the world to do. I like to explore, so I'm not rushing it.

that sounds like a good pizza.

my personal favorite is Feta and Sun Dried Tomato.  Hell, Feta and regular tomato is good too.

What's with the goat cheese. When did that become a thing?

That is pretty tasty though, feta and tomato. Put that on a white pizza. Yum.

I might buy Child of Light on my next  paycheck,  Im trying to keep my game buys low to put money back but that game might just have to be put in my  collection. Now to decide what console it will go on....

I really wish it would come to Vita, because it would look so gorgeous on that device. That being said, it does look great on the big screen.

Wait there's a new COD? Hmmm either I just didn't notice the ads, or I've been in my own little world for a couple of days. Looks like there might be a new COD game for me to try...when I find a cheap copy.

Ooh pizza. Personally I like thin over deep dish, but good pizza is good pizza.

Yea, this is the one coming this Fall. As usual, the trailers are awesome.

With Pizza it all depends. I like some place's thin crust and other's deep dish.

Didn't Activision said that they would give a rest to CoD? Man, talk about trust...

KnightDriver

Oh heck no. Activision would never let that cash cow out of its sight. It's a major release on a yearly basis for as long as probably forever. They got two teams working all the time to do this. I think COD is Activision's number one money maker right next to Skylanders. I heard that somewhere and then saw it in action in a department store where adjacent end caps were COD and Skylanders. Also, I used to listen to Activision's community manager's podcast OneOfSwords and it was all COD and Skylanders. It got a bit boring after a while, but their hosts were fun.

Child of Light looks good, hopefully it won't be too long before I get the chance to play it.

It's like a very simplified and steamlined RPG, but it manages to get engaging latter in the game when the bosses get more challenging. It's also a lot of fun to search the beautiful environment for chests and other collectibles. There are some side missions too that'll test your memory of previous levels.

Did you hear that Valiant Hearts is coming at the end of June.  I hope these type of games keep coming.

Ah yeah! June 25 according to this one article http://www.polygon.com/2014/5/7/5691562/valiant-hearts-the-great-war-ubisoft-release-date I'm on it day-one. Thanks for letting me know. This was my most anticipated game this year.

Tried the free demo of Child of Light this afternoon and waited and waited for it to download. By the time I got back from dropping Jason off at the train station, it was ready to go. Played through the level they give you, and ended up buying it. I've read a bunch of mixed reviews, but I really like it, so who gives a rat's ass what PC Magazine thinks, lol.

Yea, to heck with reviews. It's really fun.

I need to try that child of light demo. Just debating if I should try it for XBLA or PSN.

I just noticed it's coming to Vita July 1st. I kinda wished I waited because it would be perfect on Vita.
