8:39 am - I've been waking up from sleep after four hours lately. I should've stayed in bed the other four hours, but I didn't. I was a little tired all day. I hate being that way, but a venti iced coffee got me through all right. I had breakfast at a local joint and then caught up on some Pixlbit messages on my laptop at Starbucks for a few hours.

11:34 am - Got to my friend's place after picking up grub for the day and got right back into Child of Light on Xbox 360.

12:34 pm - Saw my first ellipsis in the dialog. I always notice that since it's often in RPGs to relate that a character is thinking about something and not saying anything. In Paper Mario Thousand Year Door, there was a whole dialog box filled with nothing but a long line of ". . ." . It always cracks me up. It shows the limitations of relating dialog by text in a game. Oh yea, Child of Light's story is delivered mostly in text bubbles. I think I heard some spoken dialog much later in the game and it suprised me. I also noticed there is a lot of fist-to-the-eyes crying with several different characters. Is that something a kid does? Seems a little like miming to me, but what can you do with characters that show very limited motion when in dialog.

1:30 pm - Took a break to return some DVDs to the library. Got my venti iced coffee on the way back. The gentle music in Child of Light, plus my four hours of sleep, was making me drowsy.

2:28 pm - Watched all the trailers for Wolfenstein: New Order on YouTube through his Xbox 360. My friend, who was playing Borderlands 2 next to me, got so excited by it, he went on Amazon and preodered it. This Stealth vs. Mayhem trailer seemed to seal the deal for him, especially the mayhem run shown.

I preordered mine a few days ago at Gamestop.

4:30 pm -  My friend put on Season 1, episode 1 of Red Dwarf on Netflix through his Xbox. I think we both new all the dialog by heart because we spoke all the lines as they were said right through the whole episode. He played the episode because we were both repeating the British accent of the character Lister saying the word "Fiji" over and over and laughing, "I'm going to Fiji. It's my plan." I love Red Dwarf and it never fails to make me laugh in new and even strange ways.

Lister says "Fiji" many times in this first episode. He says it here at 1:20, but not with as much accent as at other times. I suppose it's unfair to laugh at his accent, but it's the sort of juvenile thing you do sometimes for a giggle.

5:15 pm - Still playin' Child of LIght through all these distractions. I cracked open some Kozy Shack dark chocolate puddings. It's puddin' time!

Love The State when it was on MTV back in the 90's. Great skit comedy!

6:00 pm - I was using the clown Rubella as my partner in Child of Light up until now, but he doesn't cut it against fire based creatures, so I switched to Nora who I gave a blue water damage gem to attach to her weapon and who has spells to slow enemies. Slowing enemies down is a great strategy in the game.

6:27 pm - Watching my buddy play the Xmas DLC in Borderlands 2 because the Xmas music was distracting me. He was attacking the snowman boss. Pretty funny that game.

7:22 pm - Just got to part 7 in the Child of Light story.

8:22 pm - Got a big brawny support character named Oengus. Had to plan a new strategy because he's such an offensive style character. Not saying why I had to use him. That would be a spoiler.

9:50 pm - Had a really tough boss battle with I won't say who, but it was my toughest battle yet. The enemies move very fast and you have to try and slow them down and try and figure out what attacks do the most damage. My first real nervous moment thinking I may get beat. I had to switch Oengus out for the clown Rubella, my old friend from the beginning of the game. He wasn't the best choice but I made it work somehow. You get lots of potions in the game thankfully, and I leaned heavily on them in this battle. After the victory, I stopped at the beginning of part 9.

10:00 pm - Stopping time at my friend's place. I went right home afterwards planing on doing some Borderlands 2 tomorrow since my friend wants me to help him beat Terramorphous. I need a little break from Child of Light too.

11:10 pm - Played Crown of Kings on Intellivision Lives DS at home. This and the other Intellivision games work so well on DS with it's touch screen serving as the keypad. In this game you run around a network of caves and shoot arrows at things while looking for the Crown of Kings. It reminds me of some Rogue-like games I've played. Pretty fun.

12:33 am - Writing this up and came across an article saying that Ubisoft did some collaboration with Cirque Du Soleil for Child of Light. I can see that now in the backdrops and some of the character design.

End Log.

Red Dwarf is great.  My whole family loves it.  My kids like the Polymorph episode.

Yea, that's one of the best ones. There's a new series going on right now with the original cast. I haven't seen it yet.

The new stuff is good.  The guys are looking pretty old.

I keep forgetting that the first episode came out in 1988! I latched onto the show in the late 90s.

Since the information of the game seems promising, i'm adding Child of Light to my wishlist.

Cool. It starts off very easy, but then, maybe a little past the half way mark, it starts to challenge you both in battle and in exploration.

. . . .

I think I remember that part in Thousand-Year Door, the dialogue in the Paper Mario games is usually pretty good.

The dialog in Thousand Year Door was great. Game's a perfect 10 on all counts.

But it's me plan! I planned it!

Still can't get tired of those Wolfenstein Trailers. showed it to a co worker and he was impressed wth them and he wasn't a gamer. though he did laugh at the beatles paraody shot and wince when he saw the chainsaw scene.

I love those German pop songs they did in the game. Still wish they were on the soundtrack. I wonder why not. Licensing issues? I don't like that chainsaw scene either. I wish I could skip it every time I replay that level.

the xbox 360 version won't let you skip cutscenes? bummer, the PS3 one can after the game loads competely in the background. The only scene I can't skip is the second sex scene that BJ goes thru. Can't bash that square button hard enough to stop that scene!

I know what you mean. The 360 version will let me skip cut scenes but it takes a minute or so before it lets me. I imagine on Xbox One or PS4 this wouldn't be an issue.
