RPG's ARE EVIL!!!

I've only just heard. RPG's are evil! It says so in a Chick tract. What's a Chick tract? Well, it's a little comic written by this guy Jack T. Chick who is a fantatical, and not too bright, Christian Fundamentalist. He's published tons of these things on all sorts of subjects and a lot of them are particularly hateful to other religions and gays. I don't bring him up to be controversal (although it will be anyway. It's just the nature of these things), but to laugh, and think seriously about shallow arguments like these. The track of his concerning Dungeons & Dragons is particularly hilarious to me as is the upcoming film based on it. (What? A film? Who puts up money for this suff?!) The tract and film are called Dark Dungeons, take a look.

This is really funny, and a little scary. It's just pure ignornance and fear mongering to promote a cause. I laugh, and then I get a little scared at the kind of people who would think D&D is a gateway to satanism or black magic.

Here's the original Chick track comic. I have to say, it's fine to help someone out of an unhealthy addiction to a game, but to suppose D&D can lead people to suicide or to a cult that believes that magic is real, is pretty far fetched to me. No one takes D&D that seriously that I've ever known.

I hesitate to even blog about this stuff, since it just promotes it more, but I think people with a brain will see the stupidity of it and laugh at it like I do. I kinda wish all this was just parody and not serious hate speak, but this is what's out there.

Whatever you do, don't give money to these projects, just watch and shake your head and get some humor from it, like I did.

Well, it looks like that Dark Dungeons movie is all tongue in cheek, which is good. We've had anti-Catholic Chick Tracts on our cars after Mass on Sundays and they are... interesting. I think the organization and people that distribute those pamphlets have the best of intentions, but they are certainly off the mark on many things, such as facts.

"But I thought the Necronomicon and Cthulhu were just fictional?" "Oh no, Debby, the Necronomicon and Cthulhu mythos are all too real." LOL

Wait. Is Dark Dungeons a satire? When I saw the trailer I thought it was a Public Service Announcement by the Catholic church or something. I remember there was some controversy around Dungeons & Dragons and satanism in the '80s and I thought this was a documentary. LOL!

The text of the kickstarter seems serious but they hired Zombie Orpheus Entertainment which made The Gamers: Dorkness Rising which I saw and is a total loving spoof of RPGs, and is, by the way, totally awesome. So I guess it's a spoof, but it was given the ok by Chick Publications and they are no joke. It's weird.

I can never take anything religiously crazy done seriously. I swear do me people make bme shudder at how they act, say or just plain promote.  You dont have to worry in my direction, things like that never see money nor attention from me.

I did a little research and it does seem this film will be a satire, so that's good. The production company did The Gamers: Dorkness Rising. Ever see that? I saw it on Netflix streaming a while back and it was really good - a total spoof of LARP gaming.

what's wrong with evil?

I know, really. Embrace it 'cause it embraces back. Right now I'm rolling multi-sided dice through blood and conjuring a demon to make me breakfast. Breakfast demons are the best.

I tried one of those pen and paper RPGs once.  Only thing evil about them is that they were kind of boring.  I prefer my RPGs on consoles.  I'm playing an RPG for a review right now. It's called Child of Light and it's very good so far.  Certainly not evil either.

"Only thing evil about them is that they were kind of boring." Ha ha! You hit the nail on the head; although, I kinda like them with some people to play with.

People have been saying Dungeons & Dragons is evil for years.  I remember it was "evil" during the 80s.

Well, don't look now, but it's EVIL AGAIN! It's D&D: Return to Evil, or D&D: Evil Again, or D&D: Evil Twice, or D&D: Future of Evil. . . and on and on. In 3025, rpgs will be evil within the brain net yet again. It never ends.

I have seen my share of these. I would love to ask the guy how he seems to know so much about the occult if he is a christian. Oh that's right he doesn't, he just makes all this stupidity up. The only thing evil here is the brainless propaganda this loser churns out.

KnightDriver

"brainless propaganda" is right on. In fact, the whole movement is decidedly against braininess. You don't need facts, all you need is faith. If you read the wiki page on Chick tracts it brings up all the criticism and the many times his ideas have been rejected by just about anyone with any sense.

I thought this bullshit died in the 80s.

And LOL at the frat guy with the SOLO Cup going "RPG! RPG!"

Also LMAO at "Cthulu" at the end.

Yea, those were truly funny moments. I'm hopeful it'll be a laugh fest beginning to end when it comes out.

There's only a slight chance that Jack Chick might be trolling, but it's also posible that he's being dead serious from what i've read because the guy is very reclusive. Your guess is as good as mine.

I remember when The Spoony One did a review of an 80s movie based on a book that also attacked Dungeons & Dragons based on those false asumptions. He talked on the intro about the 80s controversie that Joe mentioned.

Yeah, that's what I was remembering when I said I thought this stuff died in the 80s. Couldn't remember if it was Snob or Spoony who did the video. I thought it might have been a DVD-R Hell Brad did, but you're right, it was Noah.

Alex-C25

Yeah, the one of Brad was the DVD-R Hell of Rock, It's Your Decision, which attacked music instead of Tabletop RPGs.

Was it this one?

Hum. . . No it's not, but it's awesome!

It's this one:

The Spoony One forever!!!

This is still a thing? Wow, that's kind of sad. But I guess they get money from people dumb enough to give it to them so I don't think they'd be stopping any time soon.

There are places between the coasts of America where strange thoughts are had still.

I haven't seen those tracks in such a long time. I'm curious to see how the newer ones are like, if there are newer ones. If anything they'd be good for a laugh. I usually like them because they help open a dialouge about the subject matter. If anything they help to show how outlandish they can be when it comes to reality. Sadly they fit will given this day and age with the poliarizing issues at hand.

I just noticed on the wiki page for Chick Tracts that there are a bunch of parodies of his comics. Here's one by Dr. Robert Ramos (actually Justin Achili of White Wolf Game Studios) called Demonic Deviltry. It parodies Dark Dungeons.
