Strategizing June

This June, there are several wars happening: Enemy Front in WWII, Valiant Hearts in WWI and E3 in a war between game companies. Grab a blanket and keeping your head down in the trenches. This is going to be a long drawn out battle. Don’t be a hero, just try and survive. Now here’s the plan.

Enemy Front is a WWII shooter that recalls to my mind the old Call of Duty games before Modern Warfare: Call of Duty 1-3, Big Red One, and World at War. It’s out June 10 and if I’m finished with Wolfenstein: New Order by then, I may trade it and get Enemy Front.

                                               "Ah! No more neck-stabby!"

It looks really good using CryEngine 3 which was used for Crysis 2. It’s a great engine, iterations of which have produced all the Far Cry and Crysis games. Polish developer CI Games has also done the Sniper: Ghost Warrior series. The game, in addition to France and Germany, will focus on Poland and Norway, areas not covered much in previous WWII games.

Stuart Black was the original producer on the game, but left during development. This really excites me because his game Black on Xbox/PS2 back in 2006 is one of my favorite shooters. I wonder what he’s doing now?

Enemy Front will be coming to PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. These releases late in a console’s life are sometimes some of the best. Just look at some of the great games that came out in 2006 when Xbox 360 and PS3 were coming out: Black, Urban Chaos: Riot Response, Okami, Destroy All Humans 2, and Final Fantasy XII.

E3 is June 10-12. I'm looking forward to a possible reveal of Crackdown 3. Ruffian Games is apparently working on it according to their wiki page but there’s no mention of it on the IGN list. Other than that, there are so many interesting titles I’m going to check out like new entries in big series like Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Halo, Costume Quest, Gears of War and Disgaea. It’s going to be exciting this year as MS, Sony, and Nintendo really fight for my console dollars. I want to join the next gen, but which do I pick?

Valiant Hearts: The Great War is out June 25! This is a comic book style puzzle adventure game using the UbiArt Framework development tool used in the recent Rayman games and Child of Light. So this game is going to look amazing!

Even the trailers make me cry every time.

The story takes place in WWI and it’s guaranteed to pull some tears from your eyes.  I’d like to play this on Vita but so far it’s only for PC and consoles. I love WWI airplanes and just watched The Blue Max on DVD which is all about the battle in the air in WWI. The watercolor style art in Valiant Hearts, reminiscent of the art in Valkyria Chronicles to me, makes the planes look so detailed and colorful.

I can’t wait to play this.

It's kinda weird Enemy Front is releasing on day one of E3 don't you think?

I'm so glad Valiant Hearts is out in June. The previous date I had was the last day of the year suggesting it would get delayed until 2015.

I'm SUPER hyped for this year's E3. It seems like the big three can pull something out of left field to entice us to spend our money with them.

I'm going to try and watch all the trailers as they come out.

I always found WW1 more interesting than the second one, so I may give Valiant Hearts a look.

I love the planes and tank designs. Same with WWII. I guess it might be because I used to be a member of Model of the Month Club way back and built a lot of them as a kid.

Both Enemy Front and Valiant Hearts would make great Vita games. Front has a Medal of Honor vibe to me, which I like, and the art style for Hearts I really dig. Well I now have something to look forward to during E3

Valiant Hearts looks good, surprised I didn't read about it before now.

I"m loving these Ubi-art Framework games. They all look amazing, Rayman Origins, Rayman Legends, Child of Light and now Valiant Hearts.

I might check out Enemy Fronts if I can try out a demo. won't be getting Valiant Hearts. The title screen shown on PSN has a demon dog on it and I hate dogs. =P

Enemy Front isn't too bad. It's like $30 now too. I've actually spent a lot of time with it now. Your comment about Nazi bodies disappearing in Wolfenstein N.O. isn't true here. You can even pick them up and throw them arround.

Awe, Valiant Hearts is going to be awesome. I'm playing it this weekend.
