I loved G-Darius. I had it on the PSOne. The ship capturing mechanic is really neat because there is so much you can do with them. You can use their shots, make them into a screen-clearing bomb, use them as shields, and absorb their energy into a laser. You can even defeat bosses quicker with the laser! I love how you can even capture mini-bosses! Too bad Darius Burst (the last Darius game) wasn't near as good.

The cyborg/chimera biovessels known as the Thiima are back again and humans Sameluck Raida and Lutia Feen, with their Silver Hawk fighters, are assigned a mission to attack the Thiima base, Kazumn, orbiting planet Darius in this 2D side-scrolling arcade shooter.
Just like in previous Darius games, you attack with missiles and bombs and can get power-ups from colored enemies which drop the same colored orb. Expanding on the enemy capture mechanic in Darius Gaiden is your ability to launch a capture ball and bring any enemy over to your side to fight with you. Each enemy does a different thing but all of them can be used as a bomb or be absorbed to give you a super powered laser beam. If you trigger the laser beam in a boss battle, just when the boss uses theirs, you start a laser duel. Then you mash the fire button to overwhelm the boss’s laser, absorbing it, and making your laser even more powerful. It really adds a lot to the overall strategy of the game.
And, as always, you can play 2 player co-op and there are branching paths to the final level.
This was the first Darius game with a 3D polygonal art style. Usually this art style looks pretty ugly to me, but Taito did a good job making this look better than most.
The electronica music for G-Darius is really interesting, created by Taito house band Zuntata. Hisayoshi Ogura, a member of that band, is credited with many of the musical ideas put into the Darius games.
In addition to Taito Legends 2 on PS2, Xbox, or PC, you can also play G-Darius on the Playstation, PC or download it on PSN for PS3 or PSP (I think it would look great on the PSP). The Playstation version, which is also the PSN version, is neat because it has extra modes the Taito Legends 2 port doesn’t such as: Beginner Mode, Vs-Boss mode, and the ability to watch the cut-scenes by themselves.
I have to say, the more I learn about this game, the more I like it.
