Today's another day

that's unlike the previous one only in that I played nothing but EDF 2025 all day and never took any breaks for 3DS games.

EDF 2025 has a whole huge bunch of levels. I'm now at level 84! Granted the levels are fairly short, each being basically a single map, albeit often a very large one, in which hordes of beasties come at you from every direction. There's city maps, country maps, and underground maps. It reminds me of the Serious Sam games or Gears of War Horde mode. Objectives vary from level to level. Sometimes you just survive it all, sometimes you have to take down drop ships, or robots, or find the queen in a underground nest of ants.

It does follow some kind of story as told to you by the troopes you fight with and by some commander somewhere who's in your ear telling you what must be done on a particular map. From these sources I've gathered that eight years ago the Ravagers, space aliens who created giant insects to conquor Earth, were vanquished in the first EDF 2017 game. In 2025 it's discovered that they still have a hive underground where the Ravagers have been evolving giant spiders and bees to add to their forces. One thought I had was, why not more bug types than ants, spiders, and bees? It would be cool to see giant Rhino Beetles.

Rhino Beetles would be formidable foes at house size.

The voice work that you hear from time to time among your troopes and civilians is laughably stupid, but I imagine purposely so to give everything that low budget monster movie feel.

I was really impressed with how much chaos happens on screen. Granted, this isn't top notch graphics like Destiny or Titan Fall, but I was still impressed the game could handle all of it. There was, however, an occasional chug in the graphics, but very infrequently and for just a moment. I did glitch out one level because I was flying all over it and suddenly got stuck on a invisible wall. I actually got unstuck, but the level wouldn't give a complete screen even though we'd killed every enemy. This was the only hicccup I had with the game thus far.

I still haven't figured out how to request a vehicle or airplane. During a loading screen, a tip mentioned using credits to get vehicles, but I haven't seen credits anywhere. Maybe that's in single player or is something that unlocks latter on, I'm not sure, but I want vehicles and planes badly.

The co-op I've been playing in this game has been a ton of fun. I, as the Wing Diver class, fly around, shoot ground enemies, gather pickups and keep my health up so I can perform rescues (I've already gotten two achievements for that) while my friend Mark weilds the heavy weapons as the Ranger class and takes down robots, drop ships or any larger than the already ginormous bug. Often I get caught in the crossfire and get blown up. It's not easy sometimes avoiding twelve rockets launched all at once. Some weapons do devastating damage and can easily kill you if you get caught in it's titanic blast radius, or if an enemy, or friend - ahem - , steps in front of you just as you're shooting - somthing which happens every so often because there's such chaos going on.

That's so cute. It's wrapped me in it's silk. I love you too jumping spider.

So EDF 2025 is going to take up a lot of my gaming for at least the next few weeks with all the levels it has, the DLC I heard about, and all the achievements I still have to get.

It's all the mayhem you can handle. There's lots of crazy weapons too, conventional and scifi.

I bet if arcades were still popular, EDF 2025 would be an arcade game.

It totally has that feel. It would make a great arcade shooter.

I admire your resolve with games, Knight.  When you go into a game, you stick with it and milk all the value out of it.

It's pretty badass.

That's what I'm trying to do. I'm going to stick to it until it stops being fun or next month's preorder arrives, which will be Diablo III Ultimate Evil Edition on Aug. 19. I got three more weekends.

I was wondering about Xbox Live points cards. Are they done? Because if I get finished with the main game, I'll want to get the DLC for myself and my friend, who's not working right now. There's no way to gift stuff on Xbox Live, so I'd have to get him a points card. I'm going to look for one at Wegmans tonight.

I must kill these demon spiders. No creature this size should be allowed to live...

The web spiders are the worst. They shoot out threads and grab you and pull you in no matter where you are, doing damage to you all the way to the web. Then they wrap you up. You can't stop it except by killing them.

I'm starting to see copies pop up at GameStop. I might give this series another shot

Yea, it just got marked down to $20 new at Gamestop. I imagine it'll keep coming down in price.
