sounds like u had fun despite the headaches.
Never played Sega Bass Fishing. I can't really imagine how fishing video games would be fun, especially after playing it in Zelda games....

Last week I went through the headaches of transfering data from my old 360 to a new one as did my friend Mark. This week I experienced throbbing pain in my head from transfering data from my old PS3 to my new Azure Blue PS3 Super Slim. Somehow I managed to avoid a migrane and squeezed in some EDF 2025 on my Xbox 360, some Silent Hill Book of Memories with daftman on my Vita, and some PixelJunk Monsters when everything was up and running. Gaming today was like eating lots of appetizers or Spanish tapas.
First thing, as always, was to check Xbox Live sales and start redownloading some games to my new Star Wars Edition Xbox 360. I'm unsure if transfering licenses works if you don't actually have the game files on the hard drive. I assumed so at first and did the transfer but now I'm thinking it's possible you need all your content present. I don't really know, but I started redownloading stuff anyway. I'll see if I can play any of it if I am offline sometime. If not, I'll just have to transfer licenses again.
Then I tried to log onto PSN and got an error code. I quickly checked everything on my end and then just checked PSN's website and there was the problem. PSN had been hacked and it was down. I groaned and went back to Xbox and played EDF 2025 solo.
Wing Diver solo is tricky. She has half the armor a Ranger has.
Earth Defense Force 2025 solo is not nearly as fun, but I tried to beat the levels on as high a difficulty as I could in order to get better weapon drops. I picked up a few really choice new weapons in the process, but I couldn't beat some levels on Hardest and especially not on Inferno difficulty. Hardest seems to be the sweet spot. You get lots of new weapons, and it's not so brutally hard most of the time that you can't beat it in a few tries.
Sega Marine Fishing, or as I call it, SMurF.
While this was going on my friend with the busted Xbox ID was playing Sega Marine Fishing on his Dreamcast. The heavy metal music they play while you are reeling in a fish is hilarious to me. I kept repeating the narrator's words with heavy metal vocals, "Careful with the tension!" "Line break!" etc. . . I was thinking of a metal song that sung about Sega Marine Fishing. It would be really fun to write and perform.
Then PSN popped back on and I put away the Xbox 360 and linked up my two PS3s with an ethernet cable. Apparently the cable wasn't working, so I gave up and did exactly what I did with my Xbox 360 transfer - I just signed in on the new system and started redownloading everything. The only issue with PS3 was that I was losing all my game saves because I hadn't been saving to the cloud. I couldn't think of any games I really wanted my saves for anyway, so I just went ahead and gave my friend my old PS3 and he reformatted the drive for himself. Then I started redownloading everything on mine.
Often when you enter a room, they come at you from all sides. "daftman HELP!"
Then I saw daftman's message pop up on PS3 and I booted up my Vita and we played another stage of Silent Hill Book of Memories. I got killed again, but I couldn't help it. I had no health or money to buy some with. I did level up once though and put all the points into vitality. I learned how to save a weapon before it breaks until I could buy some fix-it wrenches. I'm still having trouble seeing the tiny text and micro map. I do my best.
"Fry you suckers, FRY!"
After that I finished downloading old stuff on my new Azure Blue Super Slim PS3 and played the first few levels again of Pixeljunk Monsters. Such a great tower defense game. Love it.
Finally I installed and updated Haze so Mark and I could play it tomorrow. Then I realized PSN would be down most of the day, probably until 7:30pm EST, because of a big update or something (I saw it on their website). I'm wondering if I can sign into my ID without being online? Somehow I doubt it and I may be back on Xbox 360 playing EDF 2025 solo again. We'll see. I'm just glad I now have a smaller, sleaker, 250 GB PS3 all set up for my long term use. I hope, like my silver slim PS2, it will be the last PS3 I'll ever need. The Star Wars Xbox 360, I'm not so sure about but I'd like them both to be good forever.
The Sega Dreamcast fishing games were a blast. They tried to make them feel like action games. You had that fishing controller where you could crank the handle and use motion controls to yank the line - best periferal ever made. It made for a fun experience, not like hours watching birds fly overhead before you get a hit on your line. This was "action fishing".
For me it's actually been pretty easy. I just signed in on the new system and redownloaded everything. For my friend however, if you forget your password or have it linked to an email account that doesn't exist anymore, trouble awaits.
I sigh thinking about all the nonsense you have to go through now because consoles are linked so closely to the internet, but then there are the benefits, and they are considerable, so I put up with it.
I saw your blog last week about Silent Hill on Vita, so I went out and bought it for shits and giggles. Feel free to add me on PSN: MrYarger
Also; where is Wayne PA? I live in PA as well, right in the center area!
Did we have this location conversation before? lol
I'll add you.
Wayne is a little hamlet just outside Philly, sometimes called "Historic Wayne". It's part of the hoity toity Main Line. You can see me most days walking around town before work. Yes, I'm one of the crazy locals not married and with kids like everyone else.
People keep saying PSN got hacked but there was no hack. The idiots that caused the problem simply flooded Sony's servers with bogus traffic so that legitimate connections could not be made. It doesn't actually involve anyone breaking into a server. It's a low rent method of causing trouble.
Yep, I have the free games to prove it. :)
Didn't actually impact me all that much since I don't play multiplayer.
I was pretty irritated by that last one mainly because of all the people saying it was Sony's fault and Sony's network sucks. There's nothing anyone can do about a DDoS except for being prepared and having a plan to deal with it.
It's like me saying it's the City's fault if we got hit by a tornado.
My friend and I used to play all the fishing games on Dreamcast like crazy. My friend reminded me that Sega Bass Fishing 2 isn't quite as good as the first one which is why he asked me to pick up the first one again. Sega Marine Fishing is great though. I still have all of those and Reel Fishing Wild, which is more of a sim game as I recall.
I hope you disengaged your PSN ID with your old system. PSN can be very stingy with how many systems you can have assigned to your PSN account. I'm already in trouble given how my old bricked PSP is still registered and I won't be able to add a Vita or PS4 to my account till I can get that rectified. I didn't have nearly as much trouble when I upgraded my PS3's HD to 1TB. It just took most of the night and into the monring to do a file transfer with the external HD. The only issue I had was reformatting the external HD to the format that the PS3 recongizes.
I wish I could buy Pixeljunk monsters. Their games are on sale this week. Hope to see you on PSN soon, epseically with ACe Combat Infinity! Come fly the friendly skies...until you get your tail shot off that is =P
I followed the instructions on the PS web site. You have to disassociate your system with your account. Later I realized I had my PSP associated with the old system but didn't remove it. Maybe I'll check my old console again and see if it still shows that and maybe I can remove it. I never use my PSP with my console, but you never know. I may use it sometime.
