My friend Mark just reminded me there is another Con in my area. It's Retro Con (http://retrocons.com/ ) at The Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA. on Sat and Sun of Sept. 27th. You thought that was in Philly but it's actually just outside Philly not far from one of the biggest malls in the US., The King of Prussia Mall. It's also not far from Historic Valley Forge Park, one of the places rendered in Assassin's Creed III.  The Expo Center is also very close to one of the few Movie Taverns on the east coast. There you can see a movie and get served food and drink, all at the same time. It's fun! Additionaly my friend Mark will be having a yard sale of his old video games and systems at nearby Chesterbrook Village on Sat (PM me if you want details).

There are a bunch of celebrites at the Con, but I'm keen on Joel Hodgson of MST3K and James Rolfe, The Angry Video Game Nerd. I'm most excited for a screening of his movie on Sunday.

Also making an appearance will be THE BLOB. Yes the blob from the 1958 movie. The movie was filmed in nearby towns. There's actually Blobfest (https://www.facebook.com/BlobFest )every year in the nearby town of Phoenixville. That sounds fun, but it happened in May. Darn it.

Actors of the fan-made Star Trek show Star Trek Continues (http://www.startrekcontinues.com/ ) will be there and show episode one. The stills look super. Production values are really high. I'm excited.

Also tons of cosplayers and clubs for every geek thing you can imagine will be there and lots of vendors and retro systems you can play. There will be an arcade game tournament and there will also be a DeLorian car and a TARDIS. There's a lot more listed here: http://retrocons.com/attractions-2/ .

I think I might go on Sunday and try and get tickets early for the AVGN movie screening. I'll take pics and post a blog on it afterwards. I think I may just make my first Con this year. I hope it will become a regular thing.

I like Philadelphia.  I have family and friends that moved there.  One of these days, I'll line up a visit during the RetroCon in Oaks.

There's also Too Many Games Con at the same place in June every year.

I didn't know about that one.  I was in Philadelphia in June a few years back for a couple weeks.  I wonder if it was going on then.  I'll have to keep an eye out for these things when I visit another city.

At the beginning of this year I researched every gaming Con I could find everywhere. I found at least one for every week of the whole year. Somehow I missed this one. The ones closest to me are PAX East in Mass, MAGFest in Maryland, the two at Oaks, PA, and there's Philly Comic Con.

Wow,the blob will be in attendence? I remember both the original movie and the surprisingly good remake. I'll have to look more into Startrek continues.

It could escape and devour everyone like an evil Kirby.

I've watched a few Trek fan-made films. Some are pretty darn good even though I still giggle at the nerdiness of it all.

You get to see AVGN's movie, possibly at a movie tavern? All I got at SGC was a sneak peak at a trailer.

I love Alamo Drafthouse and Studio Movie Grill.

I wish it was at Movie Tavern. It's at this place called Arnold's Family Fun Center right next to the Convention Center.

I'm still debating whether to go or not. I may play games instead. I think I'd be more willing to go if I didn't have a friend to play games with. I got a lot to play.

It's available now on Vimeo. It's supposed to come to other streaming services soon too and on DVD/Blu-Ray in Nov or Dec. Here's the page (http://cinemassacre.com/2014/09/02/avgn-movie-available-now-vimeo-on-demand/ ). F'n library won't allow me to do hyperlinks.

Hey Sgt. Slaughter! I was just rambling about GI Joe The Movie a couple of days ago, and poof here's one of the GI Joes, along with the voice of Zartan and Baroness. You know I've never been to one of these events, but there is talk of bringing one to a neighboring town. If it ever gets off the ground I would check it out...and probably spend way too much on games and toys.

There's some GI Joe club appearing there too. The pic on the retro con web site has a bunch of people all playing different characters.
