Star Wars Battle Pod Arcade

You know, I always wanted to know what those pod-like things were in the Japanese arcades. Well now I know they are Panoramic Optical Displays or P.O.D. for short. Now one has come to the U.S., possibly coming to a Dave & Busters near you. It's called Star Wars Battle Pod and it's pretty cool. Watch the vid.

You get the completely immersive wrap-around screens and, according to IGN's Podcast Unlocked this week, air is blown in your face (see IGN for full runs of each level: http://www.ign.com/videos/2014/10/11/star-wars-battle-pod-arcade-game-yavin-trench-run-gameplay-nycc-2014 ). My only question is, where can I get one to play all my games like this.

Bandai-Namco did this Star Wars Battle Pod game and they've done others with the Mobile Suit Gundam series in Japan where they fill a room with the P.O.D.s all linked together so you can play with your friends or take part in tournaments. Check out this video of Mobile Suit Gundam: Bonds of the Battlefield.

I can't tell you how cool this is to me. I want to go to an arcade now!

If there were some of these at Dave & Busters, I might even go once in a while.

My body is ready. I wonder if that's what Darth Vader was doing when he was in that little egg thingy in the movie?

Oh yea! His meditation chamber! Totally! Ha! He was probably Sonic or Mario in there so no one would know.

I wish arcades were more prominent here so I could play this and other new titles like Mario Kart Arcade GP DX and Pac-Man Ticket Mania.

I went to Dave & Busters once and was really disappointed. It was all Moto GP and Wave Race type games where you ride on a plastic bike or jet boat and borderline gambling machines. I think there were like two classic arcade games there: Pac Man and maybe Galaga, but nothing cool like Mario Kart Arcade or a Mobile Suit Gundam P.O.D.. I never went back there.

That looks pretty sweet.

It looks really immersive and if it comes to the Dave & Busters near me, I'll give it a try.

This is freaking awesome! While watching the trailer I kept saying it'd be nice if I could fly a Tie Fighter...and then it happened. Freaking.Awesome.

Dave & Busters has Mach Storm at least.

I've been wanting something like this for a long time now. Heard about the Gundam ones but the chances of us seeing games like that are slim to none over here it seems. I'd rather have a battletech POD than a star wars pod racer one though.

They have flight sim game Mach Storm at Dave & Busters. That's something at least.
