Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, or you could call it Borderlands 1.5 or someting. It's right between B1 and B2. I just hit a pretty big boss fight and story reveal and I'm beginning to see how many elements of B2 came to be. It's super fun learning about the charcter's origins from both games and the various enemies of B2. I was getting a little worried this game would have nothing new to offer me but further mining for loot, but I'm excited again about the world and the characters.

                        athena

                                                  Athena who sounds like Cortana.

One thing that had remained solid in all the Borderlands games is the voice work. Really great stuff. I mean, these actors, and it's obvious to me the lady who did Cortana in Halo does Angel here and the voice of The Crusher machine [Grinder I mean] is clearly Kriton from Red Dwarf, Robert Lewellyn (I need to confirm all that though). I really, really enjoy the voice work in the game. It's gotten to the point that I wait after each interaction or quest end to make sure I've heard everything that I'm going to hear. It's really fabulous.

Loot hunting is a chore, but a fun one. I got a better gaming chair for myself today so I can sustain the long hours of shlootting. I was having serious eye, neck and upper back fatigue on that lousy office chair I used before. Now I have an "executive" chair covered in pleather and fully supportive of my lumbar and upper back region. It made for effortless gaming all day today.

                                chair

Not exactly a gaming chair, but it does the job.

My routine in BPS is to do the story missions until I enter a new area and then do all the side missions. When I fill up with loot, I hike it back to Concordia and shuffle back a forth from my Bank Vault and The Crusher [Grinder I mean] and try and combine lesser weapons to make better ones. Maybe I add a superior purple rarity item to my regular gear, maybe not, but it's fun trying. Then I go back to the story missions. I'm 32 hours in and still not done the main story. I'm pretty sure I'll have 100% completion when I finish though, but maybe there'll be a side mission or two I missed.

I got to a big story reveal and major boss fight today. It was a hectic crazy fight and the reveals made me all excited for the series again. It explained a lot about the origins of enemies and characters in Borderlands 2. I'd go into more detail but for spoilers.

Anyway I'm already thinking about what arenas might be in this game. I got the Slaughter Pit thing from preordering, and I hope it's as deep as the arenas in B1 because those were crazy. My friend Mark and I took almost four hours to complete the final massive battle in that one.

DLC too. I've heard there's four DLCs confirmed and I'm guessing the first will come before Christmas because I think that's what Borderlands 2 did. I'll probably get to the end of the story next weekend and try co-op and True Vault Hunter Mode, which is just the game on a higher difficulty. It's going to occupy my gaming time for a while to come I think except for the one week in North Carolina at Thanksgiving where I'll bring my handhelds and try and catch up on some stuff.

Anywho, that's about it for my weekend in BtPS: some kind of Metaverse where I'm a small robot with an attitude.

I've gotta say - Borderlands just isn't for me. It's odd: I love fps. I love RPGs. I love loot based games. Hell, I even fucking ADORE Hey Ash Watcha Playin. However, the game frustrates me. To me, they're tedious and unbalanced. Bullet spongey enemies just aren't fun to me, nor is shooting a guy ninety times in the head.

There is something about the action that frustrates me too especially when I get to tougher enemies and difficulty modes. It's really difficult to figure out which weapon is better than another. I'm going purely on rarity just to simplify things, but I'm not sure if that is a good way to do it. I'm beginning to think that I have to decide on the exact way I want to play at the beginning and then apply the boosts, skills, and particular weapon stats to support it. Thing is, I like just going with the flow in this game, but then I always end up a little under powered in the later stages. There's just TOO MANY WEAPONS! AHHH!!!

You had me at Robert Lewellyn.

I need to get into this game series. I've held off for way too long....

It's so funny. Every mission is like a setup to a joke. And there are a huge amount of references to relevant movies, TV shows and games. I think I notice a new one almost every five minutes.
