2014, It's a Wrap: Bought but Forgot

Second in my recap of the gaming I did in 2014. It'll all end with my GOTY pick in part three.

Bought But Forgot:

Far Cry Classic: The rerelease on XBLA of a game I fondly remember playing when the Xbox 360 came out, the first in the series. Of course, the version for 360 was a little bit more limited than the original PC version developed by Crytec, makers of the Crysis series. This HD remake is apparently all the game the PC version was. I was interested in trying it out, since I read the PC version was more open world than the more linear Far Cry: Instincts for 360; but, I was still playing Borderlands 2, and so it stayed in the virtual hopper all year long.

Tales of Symphonia Chronicles: Got it when it hit $20 on the shelves at Gamestop. I was playing The Witch and the Hundred Knight at the time and was going to start it next, but then Wolfenstein: New Order came out, and I was hooked on that for a whole month.

Yaibo: Ninja Gaiden Z: I picked this up for the crazy humor I saw in the trailers. I've heard it's bad, but sometimes bad can be good, so we'll see when I finally get some time for it.

Bioshock Infinite: Burial at Sea DLC: I got the season pass, but still haven't downloaded this. I recently had the ending spoiled for me by a podcast, but I could've avoided it. I think it's now too late to think I'm going to avoid spoilers. I should've played it when it dropped.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel: The Holodrome Onslaught DLC: Again another season pass that has passed me by, at least for 2014. I was so burnt out on Borderlands, that I couldn't get into more content even though I had bought it. I think I might hold off on DLC for games from now on until I've finished the main game and really want more.

AND NOW FOR THE MOST BOUGHT BUT FORGOT GAME OF THE YEAR!!!

Fable Anniversary: I got this HD remake of the Original Xbox game day-one back in February and was really excited to replay it. You could call it Microsoft's Zelda. In that respect we should have seen Fable V this year, instead of new of the delayed, series destroying, multiplayer Fable Legends. I would've gotten to it but co-op in Borderlands 2 took my time away. I so want to play it right now!

Next up is what I actually played in 2014 my my GOTY pick. Stay tuned.

Oh God ... I don't want to see how many games I've bought and forgot about. Dammit Steam.

I just looked up the King's Quest Collection on Steam and it looks like it only supports Windows XP and Vista. On GOG though, it seems good for Win 7. What up with that? I wish I could test the game on my system before I buy it so I know it will work.

Anyway, if I was confident my PC could handle Steam games, I'd be in the same boat you are.

My laptop isn't a 100% guarantee for things to work. Sometimes I have to wipe things off my hard drive to get games working properly. I think I'm overconfident ever since Tomb Raider (2013) worked for me though ...

I should probably try that free game I got there to see how it goes.

I've actually contemplated the Fable Anniversary game because I really like that game but since I refuse to buy any game that gives money to Microsoft I will not do so until I find a used copy.

I still have the preorder bonus Scythe Outfit code sitting the bottom of my backpack. I have no idea if I have redeemed it yet. . . oh wait. There was a lion head avatar item that came with it too, and I used to have that on my avatar. I must've redeemed it then.

I'm sure there are plenty of used copies around by now. . . Gamestop has it used, but it's still going for $38. That's kinda weird. I would've thought $20 at most by now.

Oh Fable, I bought the first couple of games right before Christmas last year and I have yet to make any progress. Oh Mount Backlog...

Halo, Fable, and Gears. These should've all been talked about last year and all we got was the Halo 5 multiplayer beta. I wonder what to look forward to on Xbox One in 2015. Have they killed off almost all of their biggest first party games?

I tried to play Far Cry Classic but I think the framerate is off. I keep getting motion sickness whenever I play it like when I try to play Wolfenstein 3D. I usually don't get that with most FPS's.

I'm in the same boat as you with Burial at Sea but I'm still trying to work my way thru the main game itself. So far I've avoided spoilers thus far.

At some point I'll go back to Bioshock Infinite and maybe play it through again before hitting the DLC, just to remind myself of the story and gameplay. It's been a while now.
