Cling Thing iconI already touched on the physics puzzler once this month but here's another one, and quite different to boot. In Cling Thing you control the titular Thing. By touching the screen you can make your little guy shoot out gooey tendrils and grab walls and platforms—any that are covered in purple goop, at least. The main goal in any level is to reach the exit pipe. Along the way you can collect up to three stars, which are used to unlock later worlds. You can also earn a gold, silver, or bronze medal for each level depending on how fast you complete it but I haven't figured out the point of those yet.

I've played through the entire first world (24 levels) and there was a nice variety to the level layouts. They also introduced multi-touch, allowing you to grab two things at once. That was integral to completing several of the levels. A few of them showed some signs of the difficulty I'm sure later levels possess. There wasn't anything too tricky here but I can see how this game could be pretty difficult.

Overall I like it. It has good production values and is fun to play. Most importantly, it feels different. Not a mean feat for a game from the App Store.

I reviewed an app like this called Tentacle: Enter the Dolphin.

That sounds like an odd pairing. I mean, dolphins don't have tentacles o_O

I wish I had gooey tendrils that helped me climb walls.

Cling Thing sounds like not a good thing to have ... a good game maybe, but not a good thing to have ...

Egads, now I'm cringing just thinking about it...
