Playing the Diablomat

I was going to play more old school stuff today, but I had several errands that messed with my schedule and, when I got to my friend's place, we got talking about Diablo 3 and next thing I knew, I was playing it and couldn't stop.
AHHHH!!! That's what I said, startled with fear, when I saw it.
Mark (shown above in his Barbarian form) managed to make it to 5 million in gold today and get the final achievement in the game. Amazing! I ended the day with just 2,250,000. All day I was working to build the boosts to gold drops with my equipment. Then I looked at Mark's equipment and saw his Demon Hunter had a piece of armor that gave 100% boost to gold drops from monsters. That's a incredible number. The best any of my equipment can do is barely 20%. He had over 300% boost to gold after adding in all his equipment. Mine was about half that. I shouldn't complain though, he's logged about double the time I have in this game, so it makes sense he'd have better equipment.
I don't know what I'm doing in this game, but Mark's characters just get more bad-ass looking all the time while mine (as you can see below) get more frou frou. This was the absolute height of "lovely" so far.
I'm just FABULOUS!!!
I just can't get a break in this game. I seem to get weaker, not stronger the more I play. Eventually Mark joined my game with his level 60 Demon Hunter (I'm a level 54 Monk) and he had to deal with anything serious because my character just couldn't hang when the big boys appeared. Ah well, I had fun exploring. I found a few more "dungeons" I hadn't been in yet. The game randomly opens certain buildings or caves as you play. Or maybe they're tied to what mode you're playing and your level, I'm not really sure. All I know is that I combed each area again to make sure I didn't miss anything. I also found a bunch more lore books and figured out how certain ones show up in the game. After each completed main story quest, things change a little in the game, and if you go back to the spot where you found a lore book before, there could be a new one. Most of the journals tied to particular main characters work this way.
After a day's worth of Diablo III (I didn't want to stop even then), I drove by some McDonalds on the way home to see if my 3DS would pick up the Spot Pass. Nope. You have to go inside. Ah, it's just as well, I didn't want to go in there and eat something that would make me feel bad anyway. I have six Miis tonight and am running them through the "hunger games" as I write this.
And that's the day. Stay crispy picklebits. I know I will. I don't have vinegar, but this Guinness I'm drinking will do the trick.
