It actually happened.

As I was writing the review for X-Men: Ravages of Apocalypse (which can be found here) I decided to email Jonny Gorden of Zero Gravity Entertainment and ask him about the difficulty to see if this would stand today. The following is his response:

So things this week haven’t been so good. Friday morning was no exception. I was working on assembly when around 6 or 7 in the morning the panel that operated the order screen fell apart. Either someone went to town with it or just dropped it so hard it broke the problem was the interior of the casing where the screws go in broke. To make things more difficult the connector with jack ports wired to it was pulled loose from the circuit board when it fell from the mount, and just to piss me off even further business was relentless. With what little time I had in between orders I had to figure out which way the connector plugged into the circuit board, align the jack ports with the case, remove the back of the case from the mount (which was a pain in of itself since the metal plate that attached to the mount was bent just to get snugged.), keep the ports aligned while putting both parts of the casing together, align the casing, and then use something to keep it together. At first, since I work at a restaurant, I thought of using plastic wrap. And then I thought to myself, “Dave, there’s an office to the left of you, with office supplies, which includes RUBBER BANDS.” So I undid the plastic wrap, picked two rubber bands, binded the casing together, and remounted the damn thing. And this was all while making orders at what seemed like a non-stop rate.

Monday after work was quite a surprise. While I had a missed attempt on Sunday to get my RAM for the Dell we just went to the PC shop to pick up a stick. While it’s just 1GB the new hardware made a significant improvement. After getting things going I decided to test some games on it. I was surprised even more when I found out this old machine could run Half-Life 2. Granted there was some slowdown on the particle effects (I’m still working on the right settings for performance but pretty.) but it ran quite well. So now I have most of my steam games installed. I will have to use Dad’s when I come for games that require a graphic card with 512MB or higher but I’m sure he won’t mind if I leave Marvel Diablo on there.

I was going to write this blog after installing new memory sticks to my computer but since I found out that the PC place that might have them is closed on Sundays I guess I should get with it. I’m just hoping that the computer shop doesn’t have the same views as Chick-Fil-a. Another note before I start writing the rest of this blog is that I’m dropping my current article plan. I had something going but then I came to conclusion that I have misinterpreted the movie. I tried to fix it but now it looks like a mess, so I’ll just be moving on to another opinion article: EXP grinding. Now for the rest of this blog.

Just a couple of announcements. The first is just a minor detail: I’m going to stop doing Game Finds and Figure Frontier as separate blogs and just put my purchases as a single blog entry along with what other news is going on. The main reason is to just to keep it simple instead of typing different entries for what I can get in one day, such as the case with the Figure Frontier and Game Finds back to back from last week which both the figures and the game Knights in the Nightmare have been bought in the same afternoon.

I searched around Goodwill earlier today and I didn’t find anything I’d like; just the usual spots, rhythm, and not so interesting games. But while Mom wanted to get a couple of the Zelda danglers from the mall (more details here.) I had the opportunity to check out a shop called Game Swap. They are mostly a merchandise shop but they have some hard to find games as well. They even carried both Ultima: Runes of Virtue games for the Gameboy (Spoony talks about these games in his Runes of Virtue for the SNEs review: Part 1 and Part 2.) I looked around and found an Atlus DS game that caught my attention some years ago. So I got it, Knights in the Nightmare
