Down Home Gamin': On the Trail of the Pac-Man

Posted on 08/22/2025 at 09:39 AM | Filed Under Blogs

I read that Anteater was made for the 2600 but not published. Maybe Atari 50 will get it somehow from Mattel.

I read also that Oils Well was ported to C64 as Oils Well: Pipeline Run. I wonder if it's on my C64 mini console I got last year. I'll have to break that out again next month when I do 80s stuff.

Neat games! I like Anteater especially.

I remember being mystified at the Tekken/Pokemon mash up as well when the game came out.

I noticed there's a file sharing feature for Mario Paint as well so you can share drawings. I guess you can plus in any plug 'n' play mouse to the Switch for this?

Down Home Gamin’ - Penetrator (TRS-80)

Subscribed. This looks more fun than Scramble. It doesn't look like you need to shoot fuel tanks to refuel your ship. That's a relief.

I remember seeing the TRS80 around in the 80s but I never had one. I didn't know it began in '77. I'll have to add it to my list of 70s systems and games to play. I love that still shot of the whole system, monitor and disc drives. It gives me retro fever.

Were you playing the game outside?

Alaro looks kind of cool, but I seem to remember you saying it was a bit expensive.

I got out the Switch just to add Space Invaders: Invincible Collection to my wish list. It's the three from Forever and every SI game ever plus Lunar Rescue. It's $60 though, so I'll wait for a sale. I wonder if there's a physical copy out there?

Glad to hear DK Banaza was good. I'm desperate to play that.

I have the Shovel Knight Amiibo because I love the look of their games, but, yes, HARD. How annoying. I'll take a look at Mina: The Hollower though.

So many of these retro-looking games and game collections out right now. It's hard to tell which are worth it. They all look a bit like shovelware to me.

It works well on a console with a touch screen.

Yeah, and Primal was kind of a spinoff. Unique setting I always wanted to try. It's been super cheap several times before. I finally pulled the trigger on it.

Atari and Farm Together 2

Posted on 08/08/2025 at 11:14 AM | Filed Under Blogs

Atari 50 is great but I ripped through those documentaries so quickly. I've only since returned for Neo Breakout and new DLC. Speaking of which, new DLC coming in October.

Ooo, Factorio. I want to play that. Yeah, usually that frustrates me too. Oh, apparently I didn't plan ahead for the late stages of this game and have to totally restructure. Groan.

But in Farm Together 2 it's pretty easy to do and not all that disruptive. What I really do is just enlarge plots, take down some landscape features, and reorganize to make it all easier to see and manage. In this case, it's actually fun to rethink how it all works.

I loved Diablo IV both solo and in co-op. I still haven't played the Vessel of Hatred DLC that came out last year. It's still on my wish list. I should probably get to that.

Boltgun wasn't anything new for sure, but sometimes I like returning to an old formula for a while. I need to finish it though. I got stuck on a boss late in the game.

I think I'm not interested in any physical game that doesn't have hardware (disc/cart) with the game on it. If I'm getting just a code, I'd rather buy it digitally. There's something not quite legit about a case with nothing but a code in it. I don't want that on my shelf.
