Great read! I did acquire a...disc for SoR Remake when I was doing research for my MIA piece. Ahem. It's fantastic.
I understand that companies want to protect their IP, and if Bomber Link was selling this then I'd be totally in SEGA's camp. But it was a passion project made for free. You know what I'd do in SEGA's position? Buy the game, hire the team, and get them working on some more excellent remakes/follow ups. I bet they could do something amazing with actual money and resources behind them...

I second the Double Dragon Neon idea. Also, you might consider Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit. One of my favorite 2D platformers in recent memory.
The side quests have some of the best moments in Downpour. They don't make up for the awful combat, lackluster monster designs, and blah story, but they do offer some uniquely creepy elements.
Getting the CD/DVd combo of Black Symphony is one of the best things I've ever done.

I was going to check out some panels at SXSW Interactive but then I remembered that half of downtown is closed off for the event and we have a terrible public transit system.
Besides, most of the interesting panels happened Saturday when I was working. :/
