Yeah, some of the puzzles in Phoenix Wright end up being trial-and-error for me cause sometimes I'm ahead of the game in figuring things out and present a piece of evidence that apparently I should save for later or sometimes I'm just not following the game's kooky spirit medium logic.
I also have issues with dialogue trees in Yakuza where I think my character will say one thing, but goes in a weird direction with it I would not have chosen. So I feel your dialogue tree pain as well.
Anyway, these Sherlock Holmes games sound right up my alley.
Oh man, as into Phoenix Wright as I am right now, that Sherlock Holmes game sounds amazing.
Bloodlines is honestly the reason I want a Genesis Mini, even though I know you can get it in other ways. I love classic Castlevania and wish they'd focus on those rather than Metroidvania, honestly.
The Wily Wars sounds neat and Castle of Illusion and Darius sound fun.
I honestly forgot Earthworm Jim was on Genesis as well, but I played the SNES version and remember the cartoon.
Never played Dreamfall, dropped The Witness despite enjoying the puzzles cause I wasn't sure where to go next. Don't get me wrong, I started sucking at the puzzles too, but I'm willing to trudge my way through legitimate challenges or at least look up a guide. When I get geographically lost in a game that's not really about exploration (or shouldn't be if it is), that's when I call it quits.
Arkham City is my least favorite of the Arkham games, but I still really like all of them. I'll be interested to read your take on the Batmobile in Knight if you get around to it, since it's so divisive (I love it).
STAGE SELECT: Umm... I don't know that I hated Superman 64 AS MUCH as everyone else, but I certainly don't love it. This one's hard, cause I stay on top of things enough to more or less avoid games I'd hate, and nothing I love is necessarily shat on universally.
Best I got is a lot of people don't like the direction Zelda's been going in since OoT, but those games still get wide praise and I can see why people don't like those games ... yet I wouldn't say those criticisms amount to hate.
Most of my favorite games are well-reviewed games other people like too. I also enjoy the game Lemmings.
CAGE MATCH: This is hard for me cause I've always loved the concept of the Fatal Fram series, but I've actually played a demo of Silent Hill 3 (back when OPM included those) so I have to automatically go with SH3. I'm not upset with my decision, since what I played really did effectively freak me out, but I wonder if I'd like Fatal Frame more if I played it.
In any case, Silent Hill 3 gets my vote by default.
I'll second Nier: Automata. I said I was going to bring it up when I guested to be an "edge lord," but I genuinely really enjoy that game ... but I think that's more an example of a game everyone likes that Julian hates ...
Nothing from PS+? Nothing?! Oh, man. Me either.
Actually, mostly action RPGs would be my preference. Not a turn-based combat lover.
