The only thing i'm going to say is this: i'm not touching this game on its current state/release. That's all i'm going to say for now.

I saw the video Jesse Cox did of The Witness and i'm actually pretty interested since those seem to be the kind of puzzles i'm into. Maybe the praise comes from the fact that we haven't had a Myst-like first person adventure game in quite a while and the game supposedly being hardcore. The only obstacle that bothers me is that as much as I like Braid, Jonathan Blow is a massive dickhead.
Welp, now i'm glad i'm holding starting GTA IV. Seriously, isn't GFWL dead? What kind of crap is that?
Though unless something missed that I didn't know, I would correct Blake on the fact that they've patched up the game to now work, but don't count me on that.
These ones currently on the top page, with big emphasis on Splatoon and Dust: An Elysian Tail.
Heard this from Australian/English youtuber Idiotech Gaming back when was recent guest on the Co-optional Podcast, and he pretty much summarized the situation as "if you're a gamer, don't come to Australia, it's terrible". Damn, seems Australia surpassed Germany as worst place to be a gamer, since as much as they are censorship happy, they can afford games with the Euro. Really sucks man.
To rob salt in the wound further, Steam finally integrated Colombian pesos as a currency option last December. Even a mostly piracy country like mine gets the opportunity for that instead of Australia.
Super Mario Galaxy (1 and 2), Bungie years Halo (especially 1 and 2), The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Bastion and Cave Story are perhaps my top 5, or atleast among the ones that stick with me. This is also without counting licensed soundtrackss (or half-original material).
The closest thing to extra making-of features on games would be commentaries triggered by the player, where members of the dev team explain some of the design choices and other sorts of trivia. Most Valve games have them and i've seen that Deus Ex: Human Revolution has one too.
I used to own this one back when I had a Game Boy. I was a bit surprised to find this one wasn't very well liked, though now that i've read your review, I do remember having a lot of backtracking issues and lack of control of the ball and direction, even for pinball standards. Oh well, if you'd like to try a different kind of pinball experience (even though I haven't played it), you should check out Rollers of the Realm. There's even a review here.
I never owned a Playstation either, but I did play a lot of it thanks to my cousins and assorted friends. I'd say the ones I had enjoyed the most were Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, the first Spyro, Mega Man X 5 and 6 (I was young, I didn't know 6 was one of the infamous of the series) and Klonoa.
Awesome song choices Blake!
I have Elite on my wishlist, though I don't think i'll get it right away for a few years since it seems to be a pretty demanding game. Maybe when I get my own house and job that can afford creating a PC rig.
