I would say it's because he has the most potential out of all the super heroes for games. His powers are unique and therefore are awesome when utilized well in games.

He's crazy in this game, and that boss battle is so tough! But he IS a cool villain.
Ultimate Spider-Man is excellent, my favorite in fact. Most of the 3D SM games are good, so you can't go wrong trying them out.
That's a shame. There's a lot of good Spider-Man games out there, Cary, so go try some. I think you would like them.
I was fortunate enough to find a cart of Yoshi's Island earlier this year, so I was finally able to play it in its entirety, and I can see why it's such a beloved game. The levels are so creative and make perfect use of the egg-throwing mechanic. The whole game also has an amazing charm and presentation. And the final boss! Bowserzilla!
Yes, you can use the grappling hook in certain parts of the game.
Good point. Gothan City has a LOT of clowns!
I personally love beat em ups, but there's a lot of terrible ones out there. Thankfully, this one is good, so you'll probably like it.
Especially brawlers with Batman!
Seriously. These were the nine versions: NES, SNES, Genesis, Mega-CD, Master System, Game Gear, Lynx, Amiga, and DOS. Crazy, right?
I can understand the "so many beat 'em ups" thing, but this game was made by Konami, the same team that did Ninja Turtles! That should warrant a look.
